Test and Trace Boss Tells Public Not to Socialise Unless Necessary

In an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, Dr. Jenny Harries, the Chief Executive of the U.K. Health Security Agency as well as the Head of the NHS Test and Trace scheme, said that the public must not attend social gatherings if they “don’t particularly need to” in order to restrict the transmission of the Omicron variant. Harries also called on all those eligible to receive booster jabs to go and get one and play their part in the fight against Covid. WalesOnline has the story.

Dr Jenny Harries, Chief Executive of the U.K. Health Security Agency (UKHSA), told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that people could do their bit by reducing the number of social contacts they have.

She said that even if our “vaccines appear to be effective, but we find that the variant is more highly transmissible, having lowish grade infection, but in very large numbers of the population, (it) could still be a significant impact on our hospitals.

“And of course, our behaviours in winter and particularly around Christmas we tend to socialise more so I think all of those will need to be taken into account.”

Asked about working from home, she said: “We’ve seen that not everybody has gone back to work and I’d like to think of it more in a general way, which is if we all decrease our social contacts a little bit, actually that helps to keep the variant at bay.

So I think being careful, not socialising when we don’t particularly need to and particularly going and getting those booster jobs which, of course, people will now be able to have at a three-month interval from their primary course.

Worth reading in full.

Stop Press: As of today, the Government has brought back mask mandates to a wide array of public settings. A full list can be found here.

Stop Press 2: The crackdown on non-mask wearers on the London tube has begun. MailOnline has more.

Stop Press 3: The Government has rebuked Dr. Harries and distanced itself from her remarks. According to the Telegraph:

Boris Johnson insisted “we’re not going to change the overall guidance, we don’t think that’s necessary”, when he was asked about comments by Dr. Jenny Harries, the Chief Executive of the U.K. Health Security Agency, who had urged people to avoid socialising “unless you need to” in the run up to Christmas.

Downing Street also heavily distanced itself from her remarks, with the PM’s official spokesman stressing: “It’s not our advice to the public currently. You’ll know the measures we set out at the weekend. The UK HSA is an arms-length body of Government, and Jenny Harries provides advice to the Government, she is not a Government minister. The public should follow the guidance as set out by the Government and indeed the Prime Minister at the weekend.

Indeed IanC and the BIG question of the day, how much more of BlowJo globalist cabal controlled Govt narrative do we have to swallow? Mask once more required for shops, taxis, trains and buses… yet Omnicrap doesn’t lurk in pubs, bars or restaurants. Right? Waiting staff need to be masked all the time but eating/drinking clients not… Right? Children in schools need to be masked throughout lessons, but not once they walk home in friendship groups…Right? It all makes complete sense! And now JIT for Christmas the absolute scariest mutant variant [till the next one] is rampantly on the loose again so it also makes total sense to get boosted.. jabbed ASAP with the very same old clot-shot-shit from 20 months back to fully protect yourself … Right? Didn’t anyone in Westminster catch virologist Barry Schoub, Chairman of South Africa’s Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19 Vaccines, declaring the new Omicron virus as simply “mild.”… Savage Jabbid…. Prof. Whitty or Vallance…. Right? Don’t you think it odd too, that masking-up for Xmas isn’t just required here in the UK, it’s the very same deal over there in the USA…. It’s almost as if we’re all in a global lockstep with something…… Read more »

Surely she doesn’t seriously believe this nonsense? Once it’s spreading in the community (which it probably is by now) it’s going to continue to do so – there is no evidence that ‘decreasing our social contacts’ will actually make any difference at all, but of course the usual playbook is in use, and that decrees that if something clearly doesn’t work then we have to keep doing it over and over again in the hope that it magically does work this time.

She was one of the more sensible ones back in March last year – no sign of that now.

How can we take a booster to protect us from the Moronic variant, when it doesn’t yet exist? Even the main vaccine doesn’t work against the Delta variant, and as is increasingly clear, isn’t working against the original virus but is instead doing immense harm.

SimCS

Reply to  SimCS

Think about it. The Moronic variant has only been around a few days, yet the govt are telling us to take the booster to protect us from it. It isn’t physically possible to create that specific booster in that timeframe. Further, is the booster now a triple booster, i.e. Original virus + Delta + Moronic?

You have to wonder at the selective use of the Precautionary Principle: start restricting liberties ‘just in case’ when it comes to potential infection. Here ‘no evidence’ is the excuse for draconian action. But when it comes to potential vaccine harm we get the opposite of the Precautionary Principle: here supposedly ‘no evidence’ of medium to long term harm means that they are ‘safe’.

Anyone seen the fines for non-compliance with facemasks? For repeat offenders, £6,400 per occasion for individuals failing to wear a rag when entering a relevant place, or £10,000 per occasion for failure to display a suitable notice outside premises or not enforcing the wearing of masks (or asks people not to wear them).

Now, I think we can reasonably say that these fines are draconian.

It is interesting also that the exemptions don’t appear to match precisely some of the descriptions put out in certain podcasts, alt. media etc where I’ve heard people saying the fact of merely claiming an exemption confers exemption. Which I thought sufficiently idiotic as to need verification.

I wonder if the visually shamed in the Daily Wail piece’s photographs would have been molested by enforcers in the first place if they had been displaying a badge simply stating that they have an exemption.

As for the following, it is sheer garbage; bandannas etc will suffice?!

Why do we need to restrict the transmission of a relatively mild virus?

This is a virus that affects you worse as you get older. Which means unless there is a realistic prospect of stopping it, you are better of getting it today than tomorrow.

And there is no realistic prospect of stopping it. The only question is when you will catch it, not if.

Assuming you believe life is for living.

‘This is a virus that affects you worse as you get older.’

This is only partially true – a bit of a misconception. Although there is some elevated mortality at the older end, by and large, it follows the curve of natural mortality.

Remember – at an early stage, it was found that the average age of death from Covid was greater than the general average.

Its just the case that older people die at a higher frequency.

I’d suggest that while infected (or post jabbed) you are more liekly to have metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes and thus your internal age moves up (perhaps a year?) and the Gompertz curve takes care of the rest.

According to the government dashboard, a total of 115,179,248 jabs have been given as of 28 Nov. And yet the medical authorities are still clamouring for more restrictions and lockdowns. There’s an obvious conclusion to be drawn from this: the “vaccines” are so poor they’re really not worthy of the name.

The WHO definition of ‘pandemic’ changed in 2009, which was the occasion for the Swine Flu pseudopandemic.

Since 2009, all you need for a (pseudo)pandemic is an infectious disease. No one need be hospitalized and die.
