Nu Variant: Sajid Javid Says U.K. “Must Move Quickly, and At The Earliest Possible Moment”

Health Secretary Sajid Javid has told the Commons that the new Nu variant identified this week in Botswana is of “huge international concern” and that: “One of the lessons of this pandemic has been that we must move quickly, and at the earliest possible moment.”

Although he said we don’t know “definitively” whether the exponential growth in reported infections in South Africa is directly associated with the new variant, he added that analysis suggests there may be many cases that haven’t been detected so far.

“We’re heading into winter and our booster programme is still ongoing, so we must act with caution,” he said.

The FTSE 100 crashed 3.4% on the news of the new variant’s emergence, revealing investors’ worries about the impact a new, potentially vaccine-evading variant might have on economic activity.

Ross Clark summarises the reasons for the concern:

The variant – otherwise known as B.1.1.529 – was only identified in Botswana on Tuesday. We have had numerous variants emerge this year, few of which have succeeded in establishing themselves as a real concern. But what is worrying virologists about Nu is that it has an unusually high number of mutations – 50, according to South Africa’s Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation. Moreover, 30 of these are in the virus’s spike protein, which it uses to attach itself to human cells. This is concerning because it is the spike protein on which Covid vaccines have been working. If the spike protein changes, it could potentially create a variant that may evade existing vaccines.

There are still many unknowns, such as whether it is more transmissible or causes more severe disease, preliminary analysis of which will take several weeks.

Ross also rightly asks what we can realistically do about it anyway:

So can we keep it out of Britain? Almost certainly not if Nu is highly transmissible. Many countries tried to clamp down against the Delta variant by restricting international travel but it made little difference in the end. It is also doubtful whether travel restrictions could buy us much time to re-engineer vaccines. When the original South African variant – Beta – emerged last year, Pfizer suggested it would take several weeks to reprogramme its mRNA vaccine to cope with the new challenge. However, the vaccine would then need to be manufactured, distributed and put into people’s arms – which would take weeks or months. By then, if Nu really does have the ability to sidestep existing vaccines, it is likely that it will already be endemic.

Sajid Javid’s claim that the lesson of the pandemic is to act early, fast and hard is very concerning. It suggests that more of the same excess of caution that plunged us into ill-advised lockdowns in the first place is, depressingly, to continue to be our Government’s modus operandi for the foreseeable future.

Stop Press: A reader got in touch to point out this article that appears to show the new variant, B.1.1.529, had already been identified in South Africa in July, over four months ago. UPDATE: It appears that the July article was updated this week, so this may explain why the variant appeared to have been discovered months ago.

Stop Press 2: Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty has urged calm, saying he is more concerned about the risks posed by existing variants, describing the Delta epidemic as “undoubtedly the principal thing we need to concern ourselves with between now and Christmas”.

Stop Press 3: The variant has now been named the Omicron variant by the WHO, rather than the Nu variant, as many had anticipated.

I must confess to having the biggest shit-eating grin at work today. The ‘normies’ are all talking about this new scary variant, and I am openly laughing at them. And I do so as I remind them that I called this over a year ago. And I also remind them that this conspiracy theorist keeps getting things correct. It’s almost like I (us here) can see what’s coming.

It is comical. You have to take these moments to laugh, with the knowledge/theories of what it’s being done for weighing heavy on all of us.

I’ve now stopped laughing at the constant repetition of this syndrome. No refutation of the proven official idiocy makes any impact IME. People are incredibly damaged psychologically, and well beyond any rational thought.

Today’s bit of appropriate 1920-30s German fascist vocabulary : Volksgesundheit. (culled from Himmler’s letters)

Interesting how often one turns to Nazi terminology to describe current attitudes and posturing.

The one I was thinking of was a concerned whitehall worker had leaked what the Government was up to, it said the ultimate goal was to put people back in their boxes this winter and bring in the Covid Passport.

It said a new variant would emerge in late autumn that evades all vaccines but one manufacturer would come to the rescue, however a problem with its manufacture would emerge.

Well….Novavax just announced they will have something ready in 3-4 weeks, let’s see what the “problem” is that means people have to wait longer under restrictions.

It is of course a load of bollocks, a pantomime being played out with the end goal of the communist nanny state and checkpoint society.

Just remember that those pushing out this ‘import information’ are politicians and their minions, who lie through their teeth at us. They know that we know they are lying, which is why they are scared of us and need to keep us locked-down in our hutches.
Until enough of us show them we don’t believe them, and won’t take it anymore, they won’t stop producing more and scarier ‘new varients’.

But wait, according to the Ministry Of Truth, it does not escape vaccines, it only escapes natural immune response. The world is saved once again! You can start clapping now!

Edit: according to the most renowned German health expert (a guy who keeps being interviewed and spreading panic like a broken record from day one) it does escape double-vaccines, but does not escape boosters! You know what to do!

You mean the booster that’s identical to the original ‘vaccine’? The one that hasn’t been updated at all and doesn’t seem to work at all on the Delta variant? So this completly unchanged booster can magically work on the Botswana bollocks variant then?

As some people might not know this person: That’s a SPD politician called Karl Lauterbach who looks vaguely like Gollum (Gollum is on record for categorically denying to be related to them) and his expertise is that he studied health policy and management in the USA (IIRC, in Harvard), IOW, he’s a US-graduate in theoretical and applied public health bullshit.

The fact that he studied in the USA also strongly suggest that his familiy has more money than he had brains. Otherwise, his grades should have enabled him to study in Germany.

So we’ve had the extraordinarily fast spreading virus circulating the UK for nearly 2 years now – if you haven’t had it by now, with or without symptoms, then you must surely be in the minority. Everyone else either has memory immunity or were so young and healthy that their innate immune systems dealt with it without the need for memory immunity. So no point being bothered about the latest BS scariant, unless…..

you’ve been vaxxed and are without natural memory immunity, in which case the vaccine may have switched off your innate immune system, in which case you may be fucked – so good luck to you and thank you for participating in the experiment.

The funny thing is we don’t know anything about this variant right now. Not now transmissible, vaccine avoidant, or deadly. It’s had the most mutations, but in general such high levels of mutation in one strain doesn’t end well for it. So, how about we all take a deep breath, send all the journalist on a fact-finding trip to Malawi, and live with the reality that lots of things try and kill us and something always does in the end.

DCO, Tend to agree, but what is devastating for you (sarc) is that is a far too well thought out, relevant (i.e. re: mutating>more transmissable>more virulent>less pathogenic and then repeat as it dies slowly, as I understand viruses do naturally) sensible, calm and cool headed approach so stands no chance of “flying”. Monoclonal antibody infusions, HCQ, Ivermectin and other early administered anti virals, preceded by high dose Vit C, D, Quercertin, Zinc , amongst others, do offer protection ( Ref Dr Peter McCullough and other medics world wide) against severe disease with no known statistically adverse effect, and in the case of Ivermectin 4 billion doses and counting with c.20+ deaths in 4 decades ( WHO) If “it ” does, how long does that last? What are the current known adverse effects of “it” – see VAERS/MHRA Yellow card and EMA. So the UK knew this was coming which is why they didn’t need to cause a stir around what was happening in EUrope. That was specifically to deal with countries with <70% vaccination rates. They’;re essentially already a level ahead with focus now on justifying boosters. Pfizer will probably in two weeks time come out with “lab tests” (yeah right) that demonstrates that boosters raise efficacy against the Nu variant by 100000%. So, this gives the UK govt justification to lockdown not because of rising cases, but the urgent need to get people onto the boosters

Yes, there is. And some people are calling for mandatory vaccination but so far, this hasn’t happened. Unvaccinated people are blocked from pretty much anything and they have to get tested daily at work, but that’s it.

As for continental Europe, that’s the Nachkriegsordnung at work: Loads of artificually created, partially ethnically cleansed toy states which are more-or-less officially subject to various international bodies. Eg, technically, Austria is not a state, it’s an autonomous reservation for Germans.

“Vaccine mandate” is a horrible bureaucratic term.

“Vaccination” is not compulsory in Germany.
The German government has not said it plans to make “vaccination” compulsory.
The Austrian government has said it plans to make “vaccination” compulsory by February.

People need to distinguish between facts and interpretations.

What will happen in my opinion is that many European and other governments WILL try to make vaccination compulsory in a direct and literal sense. They won’t simply make life increasingly difficult for the unvaccinated. They will shout from their megaphones that any person who is unvaccinated (without permission) is a criminal of a vilely antisocial AND politically subversive kind and that such people are being arrested and injected forcibly.

Have to admit not scoped the Worldmeter stats for those countries bordering SA. Project Fear re-energised by the most evil, corrupt people to inhabit this country; Great Reset started in the UK , but not as maybe intended.

Jeez.. you’d have thought they could have changed the script. Who are they employing in those think tanks FFS ???

Whatever, these cretins aren’t going to give up with their lies, so its up to us to both expose and oppose them at every turn..

Well – the gullible vaccinated hoards are so susceptible that they don’t need new programming medication – they are quite happy with the same old shite.

I’m convinced there is something in those jabs which does the programming of the gullible for them and wipes out any ability they might have to think critically or even think for themselves

Even if you believe their ludicrous narrative how will apparently unmodified vaccines be protective against a new strain – meanwhile they will continue to suppress effective interventions.

In case anyone didn’t know
Botswana released a media bulletin about the new variant and the 4 cases

In the 2nd paragraph it states That all 4 were fully vaccinated

The 4 people were diplomats

https://twitter.com/BWGovernment/status/1463874240130785280?t=5RWVccfm_KiNfcB_fmp7tg&s=19

So when the media tries to spin it as a variant of the Unvaccinated
We can put them straight

Nothing in the statement saying they were Diplomats, just says travellers. Where is the link to the Diplomat status, and does it mention which country they are from ( not a big one starting with a C by any chance?).

We’re the four laid out in the mortuary, stiff as boards?
Or were they walking about unaffected and untroubled in their daily life which, being diplomats, means working to annoy ordinary people?

Surely anybody who has been vaccinated with the original spike protein will because of original antigenic sin (OAS) only have any protection that the experimental vaccines give against the original spike. And the second dose will have worsened the position because of OAS and the booster even more so. You are digging a bigger and bigger hole for yourself the more vaccines you have (possibly literally) because you are left open to new variants that evade any protection that the jab might give.

So leaving aside the net harm of the experimental vaccines, it’s another reason these experimental vaccines are a bad idea.

Natural immunity comes with exposure to all of the epitopes of the virus and so is longer lasting and wider ranging, as long as you don’t get vaccinated afterwards and prevent affinity maturation following infection from happening.

All the more reason to remain unvaccinated.

The sole reason for concern is that people celebrating Christmas might feel insufficiently pandemic afterwards, exactly the same as last year, when the great variant game was started for this express purpose, and the only sensible reaction to this is Fuck off and die.

Even Julia Hartley-Brewer on TalkRadio this morning had succumbed to the paranoia and indulged in a little scaremongering. I was massively disappointed in her. She has fallen into the MSM hysteria trap and was even suggesting another lockdown was imminent even though she then immediately professed to be anti lockdown of course. One might be forgiven into thinking she actually wants another lockdown to give her something to rant about other than migrants crossing the channel which has been her bête noire all week.

I am convinced its the jab – something in it makes people more fearful than normal, which when you think about it suits the government just fine. A fearful populace is an easy one to manipulate.

If the new variant evades the vaccines, that means it’s the vaccinated who are a) most at risk and b) most risky to others.

Maybe we need to keep those people locked up for their and our safety? We could give them some kind of identification to show they are at risk. I don’t know, maybe a vaccination passport?

No no no, the triple-jabbed are totally safe. We just need to shorten the validity of the existing vaccination passports for everyone, and we’re good (already done – no longer 12 months, but only 9 months according to EU; but there’s still room for improvement).

Ummm, in case anyone misses the sarcasm, are those triple jabbed in ICU fighting for life, because A) they have been denied early treatment drugs and only sent to hospital when their blood oxygen level is below 90, their lungs shot…totally safe?

Vaxports – for the jabbed who are almost just as likely to get “infected” as unjabbed – world class commonsense.

Oh, I see we’re back to using “exponential” as a terror word.

All that it means, and all that it’s ever meant, is that the rate of change of a value is proportionate to the size of that value.

It’s the size of the exponent that matters.

R <= 1 is a reduction or a steady state.
R = 1.000001 exponential growth, lock down ALL the things!

Well, at least we can now say that we have literal Nuspeak.

miketa1957
miketa1957

Actually, exponential growth is N = kT^R. As you say, R=1.000001 is exponential, but also, k is a contstant may be very small.

steve_z

Reply to  miketa1957

and if R = 0.5 its still exponential because R is still an exponent. but N is falling
