Boarding School Criticised For Forcing Mask Exempt Children to Wear Yellow Badges

An English boarding school has come under fire for asking pupils to wear a “yellow badge” to show they are exempt from using a face mask. The Telegraph has more.

Farringtons School in Kent, which charges £34,050 per year for boarders, has made it compulsory for children to wear face masks in classrooms and corridors following a rise in cases of COVID-19.

In a letter to parents, David Jackson, the school’s headmaster, said that pupils who are exempt from wearing masks “should wear a yellow badge to indicate this”.

The move has been criticised by family groups, who say it is “deeply inappropriate” given the “historic connotations” with yellow badges.

Jews in Nazi-occupied Europe were forced to wear a yellow star so they could be easily marked out for segregation and discrimination.

Molly Kingsley, co-founder of parent campaign group UsForThem, said: “Asking children to wear some form of exemption marker has been quite common in schools and unbelievably this specific example of asking them to wear a yellow badge is not in isolation.

“It should not need explaining why this is a deeply inappropriate thing to ask a child to do. This has historic connotations which are deeply uncomfortable for many people.”

She added that children who are medically exempt from face masks may already be vulnerable, and asking them to wear a yellow badge will only serve to “stigmatise” them even more.

second attempt …..correct. These are the people who infect the public sector with their chronic ineptitude; they slide up the pole that is not too greasy until they are “found out” – this can be, but not restricted to, serious mismanagement and is no more easily recognised than in the higher management echelon cock ups in NHS trusts. This opens up a new career path – either to another tax payer funded sinecure where the key skills are to hold meetings and not make decisions; they get the gig because the appointment committee is stuffed with their “chums” who have gone down this path a while before. Or they go into politics first, fill their contacts book, distinguish themselves – mainly in opposition – and then take their world class expertise to the private public sector and repeat. This is a more developed “pathway” – sorry but it seems to be the buzzword of choice – amongst the socialists – LibDems are less prevalent for reasons that escape me ( haha) – and Hodge and Spelman spring to mind – these leeches are easy to spot – they tend to be “sir” if male and “Dame ” if female.

To be honest these two are part of the problem that is overwhelming American academia
Teaching a form of sociology dressed up as science, all a big pretence which they get away with by validating each others nonsense ‘work’; defining people and groups to fit their imaginary theories and then get surprised when students take it to the extreme and come back to bite them in the ass. Moaning about being on the receiving end of a process that they encouraged in the belief that they were contributing something useful to the world.

If I remember correctly Greendale College is where Jordan Peterson went to deliver a speech/lecture about academic freedom having been briefly cancelled from his own lecture hall by the same extremists who had nothing to do with Mr Petersons teaching program anyway.

But what the talk about and the terminology they use is psychobabble in which the participants chase other around in ever irrelevant circles just trying to win arguments that nobody else cares about until the last two are stuck in a hole of their own making snarling and spitting as the world moves by.

Getting booted out of what remains of academia may well be the saving of this couple if it brings them back to reality so I’ll watch that video on your recommendation

The three councillors for Chislehurst are Tory. One of them, a bloke called Keiran Terry, has some grand council titles, including: Executive Assistant to the Children, Education and Families Portfolio Holder and Vice-Chairman, Environment and Community Services.

However, the council does have responsiblity for safeguarding of all children, and for promoting the welfare of all children in its area, regardless of what school they attend (and even if they don’t attend school).

Trouble is that private schools aren’t required to report data to the local authorities, so although the council is technically responsble, they won’t have the data to act.

And that’s assuming the social workers take action.

If you fancy some entertainment ask how many outstanding ‘missing from school’ reports the council is currently sat on.

Apparently they looked at the government’s mask exemption graphics, which you can download if you want to- though the website is very clear that you don’t have to show anyone anything. You’ve probably seen it: it’s blue, it says I am exempt from wearing a face covering, and it’s got a little yellow circle in the bottom corner. That’s got a stick figure of a person with double ended arrows on either side to signify giving additional space. (My exemption card, which I wear to avoid grief at work where they have brought back masks with a vengeance, actually says please give me more space on the other side but I keep that side hidden because I don’t care).

So the school looked at this blue card, and ignored the blue, and the text, and zero’d in on the yellow circle, which is a social distancing thing, not a face covering thing, and are making the kids wear that.

It just goes to show that the headmaster of a private school, charging an arm and a leg in fees, is as crass and uneducated as anyone else. He is unfit for the job, or any job in teaching, as ignorant as he is about history and even matters like anti-semitism.

The bursar is the financial director. The headmaster (managing director, often also heavily involved in marketing) takes the decision. I have no idea who told him to, or who suggested it. It won’t be the LEA, since Farringtons is a private school. (Oops, sorry, a “public charity” committed to spreading Methodist ethics.)

The bursar is Mrs Sally-Anne Eldridge. Is that who you mean? She’s not mentioned in the Torygraph piece.

Verily. Years ago, a large private school in Essex was a client, and the practice there was to have ex-Army Pay Corps officers, with seniority of rank strictly observed, in the bursar and administration roles. I spent many happy hours going through their accounts to find out how they’d managed to make single-sided entries in a computerised system. Good job there was a decent pub or two in the village just outside the gates.

Never forget: the German holocaust (defined as mass murder of captives) started with those who were classified by medics as physically or medically disabled. Let’s be clear: the medics murdered thousands of their patients, and then after they achieved high success rates the SS then came for the Jews, Gypsies, gays, etc. some time later. In 2021 what symbol resisters wear when we choose to wear one (not when we are forced to) is a tactical matter only. Referencing the German camps, and German badges-on-clothes policy generally, seems the obvious thing to do. It should not be done lightly, but it isn’t being done lightly, so that’s not a problem. It’s doublethink in action. I am sure that the biology teachers are very good at biology, and the history teachers very good at history. What they are not good at is applying their knowledge to real world situations especially in cases where their knowledge is telling them that they are right and the majority/accepted narrative wrong. Lack of courage to go against the herd. You could argue that their intelligence is functionally useless if they are unable to apply it when it matters.

Their children don’t need to be educated – you just pay the fees and the school will find them a good career, or Mummy and Daddy will have the connections. It’s just expensive child care, where the parents hope they don’t come away with a drug habit or a criminal record.
