YouTube Video of the Great Lockdown Debate

The Modern Review has uploaded a video of the Great Lockdown Debate on YouTube that you can watch here (or click on the video below).

Readers will recall that the motion was ‘The lockdowns of the past year caused more harm than good’, with Dr. Carl Heneghan, Luke Johnson and me speaking for the motion, and Oliver Kamm, Andrew Lilico and Dr. Sonia Adesara speaking against. Not only did our side win by an enormous margin, but we also succeeded in changing more people’s minds than the other side. If you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, watch from 1hr 24m 20s, which is when things got really lively.

Their smug, overly-sure, wagging dog head agreement with the unprecedented, not backed by scientific study lockdown measures is nauseating.

“Oh, but the flu disappeared, so that can only be because of lockdown.”

But if the flu is spread the same way as covid, and covid wasn’t killed off by lockdowns, then we’re dealing with correlation, not causation.

Also, with symptoms of the flu being eerily similar to covid, is there no way that people were labelled as “having covid” when they in fact had the flu? Anecdotally, yes.

“The flu was crushed”. Erm… not true at all. It has always been the case that the majority of people developing respiratory viral infections get infected with whatever is the dominant virus at the time. For the past couple of years the dominant virus has been Covid. Hence that has undermined the prevalence of influenza.
Not so going into this coming winter, when those “experts” foretell of a calamitous resurgence of (guess what?) INFLUENZA!
No matter which way you slice the cake, you gotta pay the piper. Viruses will have their way, one way or another, and it is very humanly arrogant to assume otherwise. They’re slippery little buggers and history has shown dramatically that they CANNOT be contained (at least not for very long)!
I’m reminded of the quote by the character John Malcolm from Jurassic Park, the mathematician who correctly predicts the chaos that ensues from meddling with nature and genomic sequencing, etc – i.e. “playing God”:
“Life finds a way”. So please may our government stop squandering billions of quid in trying to stop life.

The PCR was designed using the cold virus. Everyone with a cold or flu thus became Covid. One reason for the inflated numbers! https://www.fda.gov/media/134922/download

You only have to look here to see that Flue was in massive decline worldwide before lockdowns could have an effect.

If you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, watch from 1hr 24m 20s, which is when things got really lively.

Took that advice and watched from about 1hr 20m (I’ll watch the whole thing later), only to be intensely annoyed by the entitled and arrogant attitude of the pro-lockdown side, pushing fantasies about supposed horror scenarios with no sufficient basis, and smugly relying on their side having “majority support” when the only reason for that is the immense sums of money and massive regulatory abuses poured into propagandising and indoctrinating the public to that effect.

Looks like a barnstorming performance by our host, mind you. Good stuff!

I liked Luke Johnson’s definition of lockdown:

“It’s when middle class people stay at home and working class people bring them things”

Brilliant.

Well done Toby&co. Their smug and annoyed reaction and their resorting to ad hominem attacks after your statements post 1.24h was very telling indeed.
The debate and the fact that you changed the mind of about 25% of peoples minds, but with their camp being in the minority here, and also most likely being composed either of zealots/priests or of already slightly more sceptical mainstreamers interested in listening to the other side, shows that this will be a very long uphill battle at best.
You simply cannot reason successfully with a cult and its members.
Only the catastrophe can and will end it, in this case either millions of gene therapy caused deaths which they can’t hide anymore (the recent wave of ‘sudden and unexpected’ deaths of mid aged people is being noted by every Covidian I know too, and this has increased concern and scepticism far more than any of our efforts sofar, as has the failure of the gunks to deliver on their overpromised effect to prevent infection), or the money having run out, or both.

This YouTube vid has had 206 views so far?

Meanwhile the window for the UK to go the democratic pathway of Norway or Sweden is swiftly closing. Bojos govt’s “consultation” poll for rolling in the draconian bio-security surveillance state unopposed is more likely a simple way to identify the minority outliers… the vaxx refusenicks?

However, very good to see Toby passionately defend and poke his head above the line parapet opportunity to push out some sane counterpoint thinking. Bravo my dear chap.

However the Govt has a massive budget for shaping the UKs “general consensus” via its preferred channels the MSM TV broadcasters, BBC radio bore… and units like the 77th, think this is a fiction see attached.

Unfortunately, it looks as if the audience was atypical. Not that much can be done about that.

Oliver Kamm is a bit of a shyster isn’t he?

Ad hom, ad hom, straw man, guilt by association etc etc.

Not a single intellectually robust point in his stream of bafflegarble.

The gist of the lockdown camp argument: “We have managed to fool the majority, therefore we’re right. No further proof necessary.”

It was all too rushed. Clearly an hour and a half is nowhere near enough time to elucidate all the complexities of whether lockdown works or not

Clearly a high degree of “conscious bias” within the voting audience testament to those not attending for fear of debate, the lockdown silo-wets.

Look at the India states now. They started with HCQ and IVM… that was politically stopped, then the leap in cases and deaths. Many states went back to IVM. In those states Covid is almost eliminated and still with very low rates of vaccinations.

Dr. Sonia Adesara gave a very brave revealing share of her experience. Thank you. It was not about the lockdown. Clearly about the lack of investments in the NHS, a government policy for many years. Balanced by government funding of new assimilation correction prisons.

I look forward to watching the video. I did not immediately recognise any of the speakers from the pro lockdown team. This is probably because none of the established lockdown media stars were prepared to join a debate where their "expertise" might be subject to scrutiny One of the most disturbing aspects of the Covid frenzy has been the way in which the MSM has promoted the official narrative and given platforms only to those "experts" who either support it or rant that the Government wasn't going far enough.

But where were John Edmonds, Neil Ferguson, Gabriel Scally, Devi Shridha, David King and the rest? Happy to take their TV appearance fees I suspect but each one of them too cowardly to engage in honest debate with their peers.

Kamm is downright scary. Toby is always fluent, but I also enjoyed the righteous aggression. Job well done.

Oliver Kamm’s little tantrum at the end made him appear as a truculent child. It seemed to be triggered by the request for data to back up their claims. This is a typical response of people who know their case has no substance. Overall though, I found the debate to be very interesting. Hopefully there will be more to come.
