We Should Have Trusted Our Immune Systems
There follows a guest post by retired dentist and Daily Sceptic contributor Dr. Mark Shaw, who says that just as dentists are taught to intervene as little as possible and trust the human body, public health experts should heed the same lesson.
As well as dentistry, sport has played a big, happy part of my life. Athletics, cross country and squash mainly but also many other competitive sports. So I was relieved to find that, following a long spell on the NHS waiting list, I wouldn’t need a hip replacement after all. I’d used the waiting time to do as much research on hip physio as possible and found that my mobility was improving steadily and significantly. My experience and knowledge of sports injuries through intense training and competing for my country had definitely helped.
When I sat down with the consultant for the assessment of my hip I described the progress made and how keen I was to avoid, or at least put off, an operation. The consultant orthopaedic surgeon seemed happy with my attitude and said that nothing would improve on my original hip and that, no matter how bad the hip looked on the X-ray, as long as I could function and manage the pain, I should avoid surgical treatment and continue with my physio and general health measures. Happy days!
This experience reminded me of my own profession (including its history) and the training involved and how medical science has responded to Covid.
In the early years of training we were taught about the ‘old’ treatments and how advances in technology had changed the way we removed decay and designed restorative work (fillings, crowns and bridges etc.). After qualifying and through the years this theme continued. Restorative work involves working out how little, if any, healthy tooth tissue you can get away with removing. All our technology and materials still can’t beat the real thing.
Prevention of the causes of gum disease and tooth decay through education is therefore the most important aspect of dentistry in my opinion. Appropriately frequent monitoring (check-ups) – and treatment as a last resort.
These principles could equally be applied to just about every branch of medicine including infectious diseases and our immune systems. When Covid emerged the panic that set in should not have perverted previous scientific evidence regarding lockdowns, mask wearing, social distancing, testing and recording of ‘cases’. Equally, the panic should not have rushed the medical profession into vaccination. All the evidence was clear from the start that our immune systems were not broken save for the very elderly and vulnerable and the already severely ill. Those that fitted this description were very much in the minority (representing a tiny fraction of the world’s population) and may even have had undiagnosed compromised immune systems.
A few months ago I noticed that someone who had always said ‘hello’ or nodded politely as we passed in the street or in the shopping centre was turning away every time we neared each other. After a few weeks of this happening I asked him if there was anything the matter and he said it was because I hadn’t had the vaccine. He immediately turned away again and I didn’t attempt to respond.
I like to think that those of us who have refused the vaccine aren’t extreme conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, troublemakers, or ignorant and selfish. We just want to be as careful as we should be in deciding on any medical treatment. We don’t want to try something we might later regret. We don’t want to be pressured into any particular decision and we don’t want to fix something that’s not broken!

Fiji – Vaccines & Deaths.
Are you seeing it yet?
Admittedly, June in Fiji would be equivalent to December here, i.e. Winter. Still, I checked the worldometer figures for the heavily “vaccinated” “countries” of Gibraltar, Seychelles and Israel, and it didn’t look good. Gibraltar had a high Covid IFR, and Seychelles and Israel have seen a high rate of “Covid” deaths recently. It is reasonable to ask when we are going to see some benefit from these “vaccines”, because I have struggled to find any so far.
These untested, narrowly focused gene theraputics have an horrendous short to medium term safety profile and we’ve no idea as to the long term effects. Just ask your GP (If you can get hold of one!) for a d-dimer test and listen to the silence on the end of the line. We now know that these treatments are ineffective, as they were from the outset with an ARR of ~1% from trials that aimed to show efficacy in MILD disease only! They do not prevent infection, or transmission. They are non-sterilising and undoubtedly the progenator of variants. The data is in. This is medical malpractice on a global scale. With the onset of winter, booster jabs, flu jabs and a high probability of ADE, this is going to be a very dark winter of lies, spin, dodgy models and blaming the unvaccinated. Unfortunately, it is the vaccinated who thought they were doing the right thing for themselves, their families and the wider community that are in the greatest danger.
What a great summing up of the situation! 👍
I’m seeing another attempt at someone staging US interior politics bollocks on a global stage. Just as his fellow pandemista travellers from the other party do all the time, by the way. If the so-called corona pandemic wasn’t specifically invented to browbeat Trump with it, that was certainly the most prominent use it was put to, as in scare people away from voting in person, win by postal vote of the affluent and “educated” chattering classes.
The solution to this malady is not “more US interior politics on a global stage” but less.
Thank you Mark, I enjoy what you write and your courage on this issue has given me encouragement. No one should be forced into a treatment they do not feel is right for them. The more coercion there is, the more I feel something is not right.
As a fellow dentist I am delighted by your article. I was beginning to despair of our profession and of our brothers and sisters in the medical profession. You give me some hope!
I so wish that this could be the start of an opening of discussion among our colleagues which I feel has been lacking, ignored or suppressed.
I fear, however, that the next step of our governments (I don’t practice in the UK) will be to remove our right to practice unless vaccinated, or, more perniciously and likely, to vilify and expose unvaccinated doctors and dentists and effectively shut us down.
I’d be interested to know if the restrictions of the last 18 months have led to a deterioration in dental health, and therefore overall health. I’m not sure a lot of people realise how much of an impact on our total health that poor dental health has. And the impact of mask wearing. Is there such a thing as “mask mouth”?

Really good read. Refreshing attitude amidst the current climate of coercive, unnecessary procedures.
I did trust my immune system. Got sick, got better (would have been nice to have some treatment). I don’t see why everyone else, including my government, doesn’t trust my immune system and still demands I be vaccinated. My immune system will always perform better than your sad mimick of a vaccine.
I am not anti vaccine, although I shall probably not have any more. What I can see, however, is that it is not a magic bullet. It is a booster for the immune system which will protect people, for a limited time, while their immune system does its job and develops its own, more robust, defences. That means, for healthy people, going out and catching the virus, while the days are still relatively long, and getting better. No masks, no tests, no silly ‘social distancing’; just normal behaviour and a few days off work.
You said it!
While I partly agree with your post, I’m not sure about this bit, “while their immune system does its job and develops its own, more robust, defences”
Id advise doing a bit of research into original antigenic sin.
A healthy body does not play host to a virus for very long. The body is amazing how efficiently it can bring itself back from all kinds of ‘outside attacks’
But where does it say that we can live forever.
Get to grips with the facts…we are born, we live, and we die.
I’ve worked for the NHS for many years (for how much longer?) and every year I’m under considerable pressure to have the flu jab, which I refuse. My colleagues, on the other hand, generally have it. I have never had the flu, and I am almost never ill enough to warrant taking a day off work. But I see my regularly jabbed colleagues having one bout of sickness after another (including ones who’ve had both covid injections). They convince themselves that they’re being responsible and getting vaccinated to be healthy, but all I see is it’s making them sicker. I’d love to see if there’s a correlation between the number of flu jabs a person has had and their sickness rate, as I suspect the effect is cumulative. I’ll stick with my natural immune system thanks, it’s doing a pretty good job.
I’m glad that more and more medical professionals and scientists are now feeling able (brave enough) to publicly voice their concerns and give their opinions on the pandemic response, even if those are at odds with those peddled in the MSM by ‘experts’, government ministers, so-called ‘journalists’ and activists, who appear to want to cancel/ruin anyone who asks questions or for definitive proofs that are independently checked by people/orgnaisations that have no ties to those in charge/making the authoritarian policies, involved in the ‘research’ in China, etc.
“refused the vaccine aren’t extreme conspiracy theorists”
We weren’t conspiracy theorists but are now! There appears to be no kind and logical explanation for what is happening but the darkest scenarios. The government cannot put forward any explanation that is consistently logical.
Just amazes me so few can see it. I question myself sometimes but I run through the data and the narrative and no I’m not mad. I guess people are largely stupid.
My experience is similar. I agree completely.
Dr Shaw, I enjoyed your article. I also have declined the experimental biological. My dentist has advised me I must take a covid swab test before any future visits. I didn’t think to ask if he was requesting his double jabbed pts to do the same. At what point is this discrimination when we now know those double vaxxed are contacting and transmitting covid.💖
Brilliant thank you. I’m not and never have have been a medic but I was beginning to despair. My dentist’s practice is paranoid notices everywhere and trying to see my doctor, well forget that. Presume it will become worse for us unclean and unvaccinated vectors of disease. What about unvaccinated Doctors and Dentists setting up rival practices?
More likely that the unvaccinated will be removed from the register, the way things are going – or be vilified and shunned.
Such common sense – we’ve lost touch with listening to our bodies. The human immune system in a healthy person is an amazing piece of evolution. If you do all the recommended things to keep it functioning properly, it will look after you. When are they going to put out information to help people become healthier in conjunction with this corona virus (and for other such viruses)? The answer is never because they won’t make any money by doing that.
