And Finally…

In this week’s episode of London Calling, James and I have our usual argument about whether the mismanagement of the coronavirus crisis by the authorities is a conspiracy or a cock-up. I remain resolutely sceptical, while James is so far down the rabbit hole he thinks today’s anti-vaxxers who stormed the wrong BBC building are agent provocateurs sent into the field by a shadowy state agency to embarrass vaccine sceptics. In addition, we discuss my wildly ambitious plan to turn my substack newsletter about following QPR into a Fever Pitch-style bestseller and James’s brief career as the men’s fashion critic of the Times. (No, I couldn’t believe it either.)

To demonstrate the kind of incompetence to storm the wrong building those folk would almost definitely have to be state backed, who but a bureaucratically run state could make such a cockup?

Mark

They went to a building that used to be the BBC’s, that still has “Television studio” in big letters on its side, and still has some work carried out in it for the BBC, apparently.

It turns out no significant BBC functions are still carried out there, apparently, though the Times report says: “Social media footage showed officers outside the White City building, which the BBC vacated eight years ago but still uses for studio space.”

Doesn’t seem like a devastating error to me, though clearly it was an error.

“he thinks today’s anti-vaxxers who stormed the wrong BBC building are agent provocateurs sent into the field by a shadowy state agency to embarrass vaccine sceptics.” I’m philosophically more inclined to Toby’s position than to James’, but this kind of thing really irritates me. Toby (and Andrew Neil who made the same kind of smear on Twitter) knows full well that the vast majority of these people are not “anti-vaxxers”, but people opposed to this particular experimental gene therapy treatment, or to coerced vaccination. Yet they persist in using this propagandist smear term, presumably so as to ensure a respectable distance is seen to be kept between them and the real resistance, to protect their own respectability. Though I’m much closer to Young’s position than Delingpole’s on the underlying stuff (though not on the “vaccine” specifically), this is where Delingpole’s otherwise rather harsh depiction of Young as a “cuck” is apt. And, by the way, whose interests does it serve to pretend that a demo going to the wrong building really matters? Finally, my recollection of Delingpole’s comment on the demo was that he had no idea who they were or why they went to the wrong building, but that one possible explanation could be… Read more »

And by the way, I tend to be suspicious of what the pharmaceutical industry says because I have read quite a few stories about their corruption over thge years (in the msm) and because they apparently persuaded the EU to ban my favourite food (apricot kernels) from being sold as a food – and yet I have taken no obvious harm over many years of consumption (a few a day – as long as you don’t have silly amounts, you should be fine).

Oh, and look up the link on vitamin D if you’re really interested (and Norway/Finland).

It was not just the wrong bbc building, it wasn’t even a bbc building. but in any case, why protest vaccine passports at a tv studio? Some good may come of it, esp. the footage of the besieged coppers defending the vaccine programme from an angry mob of ignorant, angry  numbskulls. It made me laugh at their ignorance anyway.

Hugh

I don’t really care to be honest, although there are many reasons for protesting anything to do with the BBC, who are biased on multiple issues (including “vaccines”, on which they apparently refuse to give air time to anyone questioning a pro-“vaccine” narrative), despite their charter commitments, and despite the “poll tax” of the licence fee, paid by all who want to watch tv, whatever their politics.

PS Covid “vaccine” coercion increasing. Including, it seems from the BBC (remember Devi “100% safe” Sridhar, and never mind multiple reports of severe adverse reactions and deaths according to they yellow card reporting system and their various equivalents)?

I thought it odd that the protestors were all young men with very short hair. Squaddies? Plus the fact that there was a relatively large presence of police in front of a building no-longer used by the BBC. Set up? From the impressions I gleaned I am going with Delingpole on this one. Those of us against the experimental jab are a mixed bunch and non aggressive for the main part. This just didn’t ring true imo.

Andrew Neil has mocked the intelligence of those involved as the studio is now associated with the production of “Loose Women”. In videos across social media, the group clashed with police who were guarding the entrance while claiming they had caused recording to be ceased and had control of the building. But with the BBC having relocated its headquarters to Salford, Mr Neil questioned if there was any link to those who oppose vaccination and stupidity.

Well they are certainly human. Now let’s see Neil and his ilk properly address the colossal stupidity of the lockdown and mass covid panic, as well as of coercing mass “vaccination” with a treatment with unknown long term consequences that doesn’t even stop people catching and spreading the disease it’s supposed to protect against.

I think we need to get serious with the anti-vaxxers now, if they tried to stop news shows. They are becoming terrorists. I think we’ll have to get rid of them, for their own good . They went too far today by trying to stop the BBC. Even if they cocked it up. They’ve done enoough damage, and we cannot risk more. Perhaps we’ll need internment without trial now, to deal with them like we did with the IRA.

Oh, you mean concentration camps? After all, most of the other “conspiracy theories” (a CIA term) seem to be coming true. 🙂

Of course, I support peaceful protest, but I don’t necessarily think the likes of “terrorist” Nelson Mandela – or for that matter the French resistance of WW2 – are wrong if it comes to serious human rights abuses. I have no idea what the protesters tried to do, I had nothing to with it, so will reserve judgment. However, I would suspect it was an act of desperation as the BBC are steadfastly refusing to report the news, and ignoring peaceful protests, and displaying flagrant bias, which as I say is contrary to their charter commitments and licence fee funded status

PS true to form, there’s nothing about any sort of “vaccine” protest in France or London or anywhere else on “Ceefax”, not even on the local news section . If the BBC aren’t even reporting the story, I suspect we won’t get the concentration camps on account of this!

Yes. It’s the Metropolitan police thugs who manhandled women protesting peacefully during the Winter demos, apparently to provoke a reaction, that I’m worried about. Obviously if people are trespassing, threatening or causing criminal damage, be it at Old Trafford or the BBC or wherever, and whatever the rights and wrongs, I will not blame the police for taking reasonable action.
And as I say, I know nothing about this particular incident.

I watched a lot of this live, and my first thoughts were why are they at the old BBC building, and why are they all dressed in black? It appeared to be organised by a group called Official Voice. There was a lot of people there…for a Monday, but it was wasn’t listed as an official protest anywhere else, as far as I could see. They wanted to deliver a request, for the BBC to present open discussions about the V, and the side effects and deaths being reported via the Yellow Card System. There was a scuffle but no arrests were made. They then marched to Broadcasting House to do the same there. It seemed to be tighter in organisation this time, and after the notice was delivered at Broadcasting House they agreed to just quietly disperse. Was it set up? I don’t know. I think there may have been certain “agents” there, and funnily enough there was a lot more MSM coverage this time, as usual reporting in a totally negative way, and predictably and lamely STILL calling people “anti-vaxxers”, sneering at their “mistake” of being at the wrong building.

Hugh

The main point of this, of course, is that if the BBC is refusing to give any air time to reports of “vaccine” side effects and deaths (whilst airing the views of Devi “100% safe” Sridhar), the licence fee should be abolished – but won’t be, because they are useful to the government agenda. NB anti-“vaccine” coercion might be nearer the mark than “anti-vaxxers”.

Reply to  HelenaHancart

I watched it as well, and it was very interesting. Clear signs of organisation and they did well to restrain the more aggressive demonstrators who wanted to attack the police protecting the building. I assume the intention was to occupy the building peacefully, but thy had to change the plan because the police were already guarding the door when most of them arrived.

It appears there was a political error in the planning, in the choice of target building. They’ll have to do better in future. Will be interesting to see how that group develops.

Yeah James got the agent provocateur thing wrong on the BBC protest. Disappointed. But he gets a lot more right than you Toby, sorry. You really need to wake up.

Mark

Reply to  A Y M

He didn’t respond well when placed on the spot, but in reality the agents provocateurs idea is by no means impossible. As I pointed out above, we know the UK regime does have a track record of infiltrating protest groups. It’s perfectly possible there are security operatives amongst those running groups like this, and they are quite capable of influencing the choice of targets. Though personally I thing simple error is more likely.

The bigger problem is the possibility of such provocateurs pushing a turn to violence amongst the frustrated resistance, to give pretexts for the kinds of regime crackdowns coming in the US against dissidents.

I watched it from start to finish. It was a relatively decentralised rabble. They were most aggressive when they first try to enter the studios. They really didn’t strike any officers. Just a lot of shoving. There were several leader types who insisted on non violence. I think Delingpole just heard the wrong interpretation of events from the usual cucks.

it is still a studio owned and operated by the BBC. after that the demonstrators marched the 10 miles to the BBC HQ in Portland Place, which was barricaded shut. this hardly gets a mention, although the former is mentioned dismissively in some papers but not at all by the BBC. The complete subservience of MSM and especially BBC to Govt. propaganda is yet again confirmed. Congratulations to all who went. I have been on a lot of marches, but did not know of this, so congratulations on their security this time.

Well, I think there’s a third possibility other than cock-up or conspiracy (though I suspect many people will reject it out of hand): as I see it, there are currents within the collective unconscious which are driving us towards a fundamental restructuring of society – currents which operate directly on political and cultural leaders around the world, who are panicking, and resisting ever more desperately, because they see that as a threat to their own status. From that perspective, they are indeed having their strings pulled in a concerted way – but not as a result of a conspiracy. In late 2019, after spending a decade trying to persuade people that Britain needed fundamental change to its political systems, I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t going to happen without some kind of societal breakdown. Thinking of all the possible ways that societal breakdown might manifest, what’s happening now might in fact be one of the least traumatic ways of forcing people to take responsibility for how we’re governed. As far as I can see, most people have been willing to go along with a system which concentrates political power in the hands of pathological liars and economic power… Read more »

Interesting discussion. Toby’s uses the Tinfoil Hat and Anti Vaxxer slights an awful lot though.

I get the feeling that if this all plays out the way James predicts, Toby will be in denial right up to the point of downloading the app and showing his jabbed status to enter a supermarket!!!

Toby essentially notified the authorities of his honourable surrender a few weeks ago when pulling back from criticizing the kneeling millionaire’s. I feel he will just go along to get along if the going gets as tough as many of us fear. He can then safely pass comment and judgement from the pulpit with Hitchens on those who had more courage.
