Covid Vaccine Could Become Mandatory for Troops in U.S. Military

U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin is expected to recommend that vaccination against Covid should be mandated for all 1.3 million active-duty military troops, with the final decision lying with President Joe Biden. The shift in position is believed to have occurred because of fears over the Delta variant. The New York Times has the story.

Biden announced last week that all federal employees and on-site contractors must be vaccinated against Covid, or be required to submit to regular testing and other measures. The requirement extended to the 766,372 civilians working for the Defense Department, but not active-duty service members.

That could soon change, administration and military officials said on Tuesday. Austin, who recently returned to the United States from a trip to Asia, has asked the military services to report on how and when they would go about putting a mandate in place. Mr Austin has previously said that he would not be comfortable with a mandate until the vaccines are fully approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but officials and executives across the board are rethinking their position as the Delta variant surges.

The FDA plans to fully approve the Pfizer Covid vaccine, one of the most widely used vaccinations, by early next month, people familiar with the effort have said. The move will lead to more vaccination mandates across the country, but officials say Mr Austin is not expected to wait for final approval before making his recommendation. …

About 64% of active-duty military members are fully vaccinated, above the 60% of Americans over 18 who are fully vaccinated. But for the military, the rate is unacceptably low, raising issues of readiness should cases rise among service members. It is also difficult to deploy troops who have not been vaccinated to countries with stringent local restrictions.

Beyond readiness, a big part of the push for a mandate for the military centers on the belief that service members could set an example for their families and friends in states where vaccine hesitancy has been higher.

“When people see that these guys got the vaccine and nothing happened to them, that could be decisive,” said Dr Ezekiel J Emanuel, a Bioethicist at the University of Pennsylvania who advised Mr Biden during his transition.

“People admire our military,” he said. “They can serve as a positive example.”

What should be going on? All governments on this planets with close ties to the so-called American left trying to out-idiot each other in order to prove that international cooperation is always superior to anything else regardless of the outcomes while the Chinese make truckloads of money from selling useless consumer goods.

After the botched bird flu and swine flu attempts, the WHO has finally learnt that calling something flu simply doesn’t sound scary enough anymore and that a professionally managed pandemic needs professionally managed PR.

Maybe as undercurrent: An involuntary demonstration that democracy really isn’t a suitable form of organization/ government of anything.

Are fully vaccinated soldiers allowed to partake in combat without face masks despite that’s so risky?

As long as their opponents wear masks.
Also their opponents must have the same percentage of soldiers with myocarditis to ensure it is a fair contest.

As well as masks, they will of course have to “social distance”, and therefore the dangers of hand-to-hand combat will be reduced.
It will, of course, be permissible for one side or the other, or both, to rip off masks, come to close quarters, and sneeze at each other.
General Patton would be proud.

Not only will they have to wear masks but they have to socially distance whilst under fire and if up against a black enemy they will have to take the knee before commencing battle. Oh and if one of their fellow comrades is a muslim they will have to stop their patrol until prayers have been completed (like how it was shown in a recruiting ad for the British Army).

Wouldn’t trust the US military, let alone our own, to jump the right way, considering how painfully woke the military and security hierarchies have been engineered to be over the past few decades.

Better to keep pushing at the democratic means for the moment. Civil war isn’t yet the only option left to dissenters, though the woke are pushing as hard as they can via cancellation, censorship, demonisation and criminalisation of dissent for that to be the case.

William Gruff

The senior officers may be painfully woke, however, I doubt that many of the NCOs and other ranks are. The armed forces are run by NCOs and they are more than capable of deposing useless or treasonous officers, of whatever rank.

The loyalty of servicemen can never be taken for granted. I am not casting doubt on that, merely observing that they have a sense of duty and a moral compass, and a point beyond which they will not go. Police officers will always open fire on citizens if ordered to do so, however, it can never be assumed that soldiers will. They have been known to turn their guns on those giving the orders.

Mark

Indeed. Trying to use the military against the people is the last roll of the dice for rulers faced with losing their grip.

I do not say the military would necessarily jump the wrong way, merely that there’s no guarantee it won’t.

The US military regularly take long haul flights so one can only guess the numbers on blood clot related deaths if they go and start manoeuvres.

Maybe they are deemed as useful collateral before being used by Joe Biden ‘I just got my butt wiped’ Admin. the false flag drone attack on a vessel freighter of asphalt, Asphalt Princess near the strait of Hormuz in the Arabian Sea could be seen as “triggering”.

Can someone help me out with this, I am a simple fellow and cannot quite get my head round the logic with this. As I understand it the current gene therapy vaccines only claim at best to reduce the symptoms of Covid disease that can arise from the SARS Cov2 virus, have I got that correct? From what has been happening in the UK it seems that the SARS-Cov2 virus can roam around the upper respiratory tracts of both vaccinated and unvaccinated people pretty much as it wishes, it is just that if you are vaccinated your chances of it giving you severe Covid are reduced?
If we assume that the military are composed of fit active people then their chances of getting severe covid from SARS-Cov2 are much reduced in any case. If I have got that correct what is it that these vaccines are supposed to do for the military?

If my thoughts are correct then to my mind vaccinating the military against covid disease is pointless and a completely futile gesture, much like vaccinating children. Have I missed something? Am I not seeing the full picture?

Mark

Reply to  Steve-Devon

If I have got that correct what is it that these vaccines are supposed to do for the military?

They aren’t supposed to do anything for the military, and any medical effects are irrelevant. The compulsory vaccination of the military has three objectives:

1 Signal to the population that vaccination and vaccination coercion is normal

2 Signal the complete control,of the regime over the military and over individual soldiers (as an enforced political gesture, like taking the knee)

3 Ensure that there are no vaccine resisters in the military who might sympathise with dissenters when they are used to crack down on them (and never mind Posse Comitatus – a suitable change to the Insurrection Act and demonisation of vaccine resisters and other dissenters as terrorist threats will deal with that)

Hugh
Hugh

Oh it won’t do that, there will be a significant number “vaccinated” sympathetic to those who are not – especially ones who experience adverse reactions – which won’t happen at all because, you know, it’s the military – and if the cover up springs leaks, the CIA (who pioneered use of the term) can smear it as conspiracy theory

Susan

Yes. Vaccinating the military’s healthy and fit isn’t a “futile gesture”
if the object is to demoralize and incapacitate them.

If the US military are complicit in the roll-out of ‘vaccines’, even against their own forces. They could hardly then be at the forefront of any military-based Nuremburg trails. In effect, the US military will have been compromised and could not act in an unbiased manner, hence unable to perform said trials…

The entities behind all this evil are very, very sly and malicious.

US military “leaders” are selected based on their political loyalties. Don’t expect anything but enthusiastic compliance from them.

Resistance to this, if it occurs, will come from the junior officer and enlisted ranks.

This serves the dual purpose of achieving higher rates of people getting onto the soon to be coming vaccine register (precursor to universal IDs and centrally controlled digital currencies) AND purging the military of those who don’t support the administration; a loyalty and fealty check.
That way when the military is used, as in Australia, to disarm the private citizenry the military will obey.

It’s not often spoken about now, but likely thousands of veterans were disabled by the multiple vaccines used prior to deployment in gulf war 1. Might explain the need to use coercion today. There were some accidental controls where individuals were jabbed up and then for some reason never deployed, but still suffered, which ruled out exposure to unknown substances on the battlefield. But of course one cannot question the vaccines, ever, and no one really cared that much about a bunch of disabled military. They have probably mostly died out, now, as it’s 30 years later.

Won’t do much for the plan to make “invincible warriors” if they keel over with multiple thromboses after the clot shot.

The only way that this can be done legally and ethically is if the FDA waves a magic wand and creates a time-machine to travel forward to a date when the (already fatally flawed by un-blinding) drug trials are completed and analysed and demonstrated to be efficacious and safe for all proposed recipients. Then they can publish the authorisation, get back in the time-machine, and bring it back.
Unfortunately it looks like they are just going to tear up everything we have painstaking learned over the last decade about drug interventions to ensure that we avoid ‘unforeseen’ consequences.
How sad that it has come to this, it isn’t the science that has failed, we do know how to do it, but rather the $cientists masquerading as proponents of the scientific method.
