Governor Ron DeSantis Stands Firm Against Lockdowns as Covid Surges in Florida

The summer surge, driven by the Delta variant, is now underway in America, including reopened states like Florida, Texas, Mississippi and Georgia.

It is very welcome, therefore, to see Florida Governor Ron DeSantis standing firm against those calling on him to impose restrictions. He said:

If anyone is calling for lockdowns, you’re not getting that done in Florida. I’m going to protect people’s livelihoods. I’m going to protect kids’ rights to go to school. I’m going to protect people’s right to run their small businesses. …

We’re going to lift people up, We’re not locking people down.

Contrary to all the models and warnings, there was no exit wave in Texas, Georgia or Florida as they lifted restrictions. However, that there is a new surge now as the Delta variant arrives (just as there was in the U.K., not as restrictions were lifted during the spring but as the Delta variant arrived) seems to me pretty conclusive evidence that surges are caused primarily by new variants, not by the lifting of restrictions.

Not that that means new variants are anything to be afraid of. Their ripples (which seem to get smaller each time) come and go relatively quickly as they exhaust the pool of susceptible people and herd immunity is restored (see here for a fuller explanation of this).

All credit to DeSantis for continuing to stand against the lockdown hysteria despite the new surge, and we look forward to seeing him vindicated and confounding his critics once again.

‘We’re going to lift people up, We’re not locking people down.’

That is the kind of thing we should be hearing from our own ‘libertarian’ PM.

Yup. of course the Democrat’s threatening another lockdown is nothing more than a complete coincidence & absolutely nothing to do with any pending news about Audits coming out of Arizona…

This PM should step down with immediate effect. He had a chance to take advice from the same people Governor DeSantis did. Instead, hetook his advice from Neil F and Sage. Well, we can all see where that got us.

Our PM doesn’t care enough about his country or his people. Theresa May treacherously betrayed us too. They think the UK is finished and we need a foreign power to lead us. They are weak and feeble people. After 40yrs of EU control we seem to have lost all ability to stand on pur own two feet. We have people in power who always look to the socialist, lazy and greedy way of decision making.

Our own PM lost his sense of self preservation the day he divorced Marina Wheeler and got involved with the Biden regime. He rudely snubbed President Trump and went on to support a marxist regime. That tells us the danger we are in.

Libertarian? Just a political leader with a brain and balls who isn’t beholden to the special interest groups that have pushed the lockdown strategy.

I say a prayer every day for Governor DeSantis’ safety. A number of leaders have now died. The most recent the president of Haitti. Probably nothing to do with COVID vaccinations, just another coincidence.

I also pray for De Santis every day. I pray too for President Trump because we are now realising he is becoming the saviour of the free world. He is America’s Lincoln and UK’s Churchill. He stands alone against marxism, socialism and evil. Johnson could have chosen the moral path and put his people first. He chose the easy road of letting others make the decisions so he didn’t have to take responsibility.

Hear hear! If I could give this 100 upvotes, I would. Compare these people to European leaders falling over themselves to force their citizens into vaccines and covid passports. When in the history of the world has a vaccinated person needed protecting from someone who is not vaccinated – if the vaccine works?

I agree – I sincerely hope that DeSantis will be the next President of the USA.

I think Boris is a libertarian but he is also a coward too – he won’t make the tough decisions, he doesn’t have the courage to stand up to the medical tyrants who are currently running the country, he doesn’t have the fight in him to defend his libertarian convictions – Ron DeSantis is fearless in his libertarian views and he will fight back – he will fight for what he believes is the right thing to do – Boris Johnson is lazy and spineless – he will throw in the towel and dump his libertarian beliefs at the first sign of hard work and confrontation – the man does not have what it takes to lead a country – he doesn’t have courage and this lack of courage in his leadership is currently reflected in the whole of the UK … afraid, confused, unsure, anxious and quite frankly gutless.

Governor DeSantis is a lawyer by trade. Which means he went to law school and passed his boards. Boris, not sure if he attended uni? But sort of comparing apples to oranges here. You know, IQ’s and things like that must come into play here.

I think this is more a battle of right and wrong. Of conviction politics and patriotic duty. Johnson never had any of this in the first place. He relied on popularity which always wanes with fickle voters. I don’t even think he is a Libertarian. He is a Liberal which is a completely different animal. Libertarians want liberty and freedom with boundaries because they know Liberty and freedom come at a cost. That cost is the constant vigilance of franchise, opportunity and patriotism in order to maintain and grow society.

Liberals on the other hand want everything for everyone regardless of cost to society. They believe in open borders, movement of people, no countries or cohesion of society. They are the everywheres of the world. The problem is Liberalism leads to socialism and chaos. That is where Johnson sits. Liberals don’t like responsibility or structure.

The governor of Florida is doing the right thing for the greater good, considering wider factors.

It will be interesting to see how the wave goes. I suspect very similar to other lockdown states, proving that lockdowns are useless.

It is possible that in more open Florida, the wave will be quicker, with a steeper curve but actually fewer Covid deaths at the end of it.

The bottom line here is that Governor DeSantis is allowing his constituents to make up their own minds. If they want a vaccine, it is available, if they don’t, that is their choice. If they want to lockdown go right ahead. All those who would like to get on with their lives go for it.

Let’s not forget, Governor DeSantis took his advice from Drs. Atlas, Battacharya, Kuldorff. He refused to take any advice from Tony Fauci, Deborah Birx or Joe Biden. If it wasn’t so darn hot in Florida, I would move there in a minute. It may be the last sane place to live.

DeSantis knows this is a scam. A bio weapon to create enough fear that people will take a jab. A jab that will eventually kill them. I cannot say that outright but he can butt against the globalists until 2022 when MAGA will take the Senate and Congress. That will start the shift towards breaking up the globalist cartels. Johnson usually has a very keen sense of where he needs to be to benefit himself. Choosing the Democrat Biden (NutNut and europhile civil serpents influence) has probably been the biggest mistake in his political career.

This is all looking more and more like ‘Atlas Shrugged’ – the freedom loving wealth creators all ending up in one place while the rest of the world destroys itself chasing socialism. The lying, deceitful leader are all present- pushing the official truth and crushing the real truth and anyone who speaks it whilst feathering their own nests and appropriating the wealth of others. It’s getting harder and harder to see this any other way.

I am looking to people like DeSantis as the saviours of the free world. In other jurisdictions the Lockdown Proponents and their dystopian view of the future would have us all under authoritarian rule. If States like Florida can win then I think we will have a chance to roll back the march to the WEF future world. If they don’t win then I think we face a bleak future.
