Government Not Planning to Change Sensitivity of NHS Covid App

Reports that the Government could lower the sensitivity of the NHS Covid app in weeks – after half a million English people were ‘pinged’ in just seven days – have been denied, with officials only going so far as to say that the system will be kept under “constant review”. Sky News has the story.

Ministers had indicated that the contact tracing tool would be tweaked, with Transport Secretary Grant Shapps telling Sky News last Friday, July 9th, it would be “tailored” to keep it aligned with new social distancing rules.

However, Sky News understands there are no current plans to change the “sensitivity of the risk threshold” – but the app will be kept under “constant review”.

Business groups have expressed frustration at the increasing number of workers being pinged by the app and told to stay at home. …

The Prime Minister has previously said he understands people’s frustrations with the app, but his spokesman said on Friday that it was “working as it is designed to do”.

But it will be kept “under review”, they added.

The spokesman also dismissed reports in the Telegraph of the app pinging people through brick walls, saying it used “low energy Bluetooth”, thus making that situation “highly unlikely”. …

Government sources have sounded increasingly downbeat on the so-called “test to release” plan… with the results from pilots into strategy only due to report in the next two months.

The decision not to tweak the app for the time being comes after Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer equated it to “taking the batteries out of the smoke alarm”.

I used to use bluetooth over about 10 metres and through closed windows

This article says it goes through walls and concrete floors

It always was a crazy idea to use blutooth for that purpose. It was not developed with that in mind.

When will the Conservative MPs realise that their leader is doing exactly what Starmer and the Nomenklatura want him to? Perhaps they like this nonsense.

MPs are members of elite groups

A blue elite, a red elite, or a yellow elite

They do as they are told by the heads of these elites

The idea that they represent their constituents is laughable

Some already have – the core group that consistently vote and speak against the covid nonsense measures.

Others might have but are too afraid to speak out or are hopeful of a junior minister post

The Cabinet are in it up to their necks and they know it

The rest are probably just as brainwashed as the general population

I think because there are so very few real ‘conservatives’ in the party. It’s been there for a while, but many of us were convinced the new intake in December 2019 would provide more of a balance back to conservative values after a substantial clear out of the dross with the likes of Grieve, Gyimah, Soubry etc.

I cancelled my membership last September and I’m done with them completely. It felt good writing ‘NONE’ across the ballot papers in May.

Well – as an objective observer who wouldn’t care if the Tory Party disappeared from the face of the earth – the likes of the intellectual heft of Grieve is precisely what the existing dross lack.

Another pathetic Tory apologist.

Mr Toad is doing precisely what he’s always done – of his own volition – and what his Party has completely supported him in doing.

Starmer is doing exacty what the Tories want him to do – is a more accurate description.

Maybe they want to be! Let’s face it, if you get paid time off work, feel well, and have your own garden to sunbathe in, what’s not to like?

Indeed. As they’re handing tests out free and it’s easy to generate a phony positive, the choice is between ten days off work fully paid, or actually going to work. Tough call.

Is there actually much the government can do to tune it anyway? Isn’t their app just a pretty front end on top of an API provided by Google and Apple?

Catee

If I owned a business I would request my employees turn the app off or face ‘no pay’ for any isolation period, unless they have symptoms and a postive test. Certainly a negative test is deemed adequate to access various things so it must work the other way too.

I find it appalling that anyone is still using the app. Even if you were gullible or curious enough to download it in the first place you must surely have realised by now that it’s a crock of shit.

It couldn’t be more obvious that the government is not acting rationally but is pursuing some ideological agenda (the WEF’s). What possible reason could there be to throw industry, transport, health and education into chaos in the coming weeks through the brilliantly named “pingdemic”? There is none. It will lead to worse health outcomes not better ones.

Indeed. The narrative is consistently evolving to induce fear where there should be freedom, confusion where there should be clarity and an inevitability to the resumption of full lockdowns when there should be an acknowledgment that they have caused incalculable damage and should not be relied upon again.

We don’t get news of how other countries and jurisdictions around the world have moved on – only news from those that are signed up to this scam.

There is an open recklessness to this government now that wasn’t visible to many people this time last year. They are now all in with going nuclear on the economy.

You’ve gotta be either an absolute idiot or an absolute skiver to be using this. We do not use it at my place of work despite our foreign corporate office being absolutely corona mad. Luckily we’re a small outpost with our own rules on this, masks and other things.

If you have contractual sick pay, you won’t mind being pinged and having 10 days off work.
If you have to rely on statutory sick pay, that cuts your income right down to about £95 per week. For many people, that’s a real problem.
I suggest that more working class people will be hit by having only SSP to rely on if they are pinged. The middle class are far more likely to be in jobs with contractual sick pay.
The great pandemic eh…..where the middle class hid at home, while the working class brought them things. And the working class kept working, while the middle class got furloughed. Now the middle class can have paid time off if they are pinged, while the working class have to struggle by on £95 a week.

I saw it as useful for anonymously checking into venues but always had the contact tracing paused. I have now deleted it as the law doesn’t demand contact tracing from Monday.

Get rid of the damn thing!
Why would anyone install an app or use any form of technology that tracks, traces, follows you around and could imprison you at a random moments notice innocent or guilty . How can this be? Utter stupidity. How did it ever come to be so? [rhetorical].
I’m still reeling from the fact that so many bought into this scam. Who was the salesperson/con artist that made this sale? I know someone who needs to sell some time share in the South of France.

Jonathan Smith

If they can manipulate the sensitivity of the app they can keep this charade going without measures.

I was thinking that they’ll tweak it so the ‘fully injected’ don’t get pinged, leaving only the uninjected being targeted. But – if the uninjected are distrustful of the government and the panscam, it’s highly unlikely they will have downloaded the app, so won’t get pinged anyway…my thoughts, therefore are useless!
It might be a reflection of my sitting in the garden and having a glass or three of chilled wine that has my thoughts in such disarray… hic!

Of course the government won’t desensitise the app. But these idiots that continue fulfilling the government’s agenda will be crying in their beer soon…oops, there won’t be any beer or food because everyone will be off work ‘self isolating’ Nice one!
