Cry Freedom: Nearly All Covid Rules to be Ditched on July 19th
Almost all Coronavirus rules – including limits on the number of people who can meet together, the wearing of face masks, and social distancing in pubs and bars – will be ditched as part of step four of the roadmap for lifting lockdown restrictions in England. Sky News has more.
The Government expects to push ahead with step four of its lockdown-lifting roadmap on July 19th, when Boris Johnson wants to move away from ministerial edicts for managing the coronavirus pandemic.
Instead, people in England will be encouraged to use their personal judgement on the risks of infection – with the Prime Minister wishing to see a new way of living with the virus.
A final decision on whether to go ahead with the last phase of the roadmap will be taken in a week’s time, following a review of the latest data and if the government’s tests for removing restrictions are being met.
Should step four proceed on 19 July, it will see:
• No more limits on social contact to allow people to gather in groups of any size
• The removal of the “one metre-plus” rule in almost all settings, apart from specific places such as airports
• All remaining businesses, including nightclubs, able to re-open
• No capacity caps on large scale events, such as sports matches or concerts
• No more regulations on wearing face masks in shops or on public transport
• The Government will no longer require people to work from home
• No more limits on the number of people who are able to visit care home residents
The Government has also chosen not to impose the use of domestic COVID “passports” for people to demonstrate their vaccination or testing status when attending pubs, bars and restaurants or other venues.
There will be further announcements this week on whether schools and colleges will continue to have to “bubble” pupils, as well as on whether double-jabbed people will still have to self-isolate after contact with an infected person or on their return from an “amber list” country.
However, under those rules being retained, it will still be a legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive for COVID-19, the one-metre plus rule will continue in specific places such as airports to prevent passengers from different destinations from mixing, and infection control measures will remain in place in care homes.

I think 2 things have led to this. First of all the massive marches in London must have had an impact.
I would also add the that the legal actions that have been raised must have had them scared as well. Perhaps they dont fully control the courts and realise what could happen if they dont change course now.
Now we have to pray for those vaccinated of course, that there are no long term affects to the jab.
If Sturgeon and Drakeford dont quickly follow suit, organise marches and legal action if you can. I hope you dont mind if a few of us Angles cross the border and join in your demonstrations. Edinburgh and Cardiff would be glad to see us I am sure.

Totally agree…and some intend doing it again and again. I alternate between feeling very sorry for them because they trusted the government and then being angry about their ongoing compliance. I have to accept it’s their choice.

Problem is people i speak too say they have no idea whats happening in other countries like the US. When i say florida and Texas have been open for months they say really and shrug their shoulders because they thing the Americans are stupid.

Not least because it’s already tricky in the more zealous US states to justify the charade. I saw a YouTube link from this site the other day that seemingly showed New York bars and restaurants open for business, no masks, no distancing, no measures for entry etc.
Not sure of its validity and how widespread it is, but as the US becomes more and more open, how can European politicians continue to justify their draconian policies?

Imperial College uses this new data to produce some more cracking and very reliable modelling. Overwhelmed hospitals already struggling with the backlog of illness from the lockdowns, are hit with seasonal illness as autumn arrives. Some/most of these are obviously Covid.(28 days after a test and all that) We lockdown again. Blame must be deployed on those crazy anti-vaxxers. talk about the scamspread misinformation.I think you are mostly right in your projections but what I suspect will happen is a cascade of antibody dependent enhancement, pathogenic priming and now there appears to be evidence of original antigenic sin (OAS) amongst the vaxxed.
ADE we have known about for a long time. I need to do more research into OAS so please don’t quote me on this but my understanding is it’s rather like ADE but for other viruses. So instead of a coronavirus doing you in, it could be influenza instead.
We will all be screaming “we told you so” but the governments around the world will insist it’s some new pathogen (maybe they will release one just to be certain).
I wouldn’t want to bet on what would happen next but would assume even more draconian measures than we have seen so far would result.

Two masked ladies recently arrived from Wales to collect a painting they’d bought from me. They declined my invitation for tea and stayed by the front gate. I had to come forward to place the painting against the wall of my house and retreat, then one of them came and picked it up. “Sorry”, she said, “we just need to stay safe.”
I was utterly bemused by this behaviour. Spellbound.
So they drive to collect the painting, get out of the car, drive back, all presumably in a state of fear, but they think their actions mean they’re ‘staying safe’. Unreal.

I can’t help but think that Boris could still do a u-turn before Freedom Day (#2) and say he’s had to bow to pressure from the country who think it’s far too risky to open up further, public fear stoked up by the controlled opposition. I hope I’m wrong, but 2 weeks is a very long time in politics and these days of covid. Case numbers will look to be rising “exponentially”, and the hostages will be begging their captors to keep them locked up.

There’ll be a lot of miffed MPs if the rules aren’t relaxed, bless ‘em. They start on their looong summer break shortly after the 19th and will want to chill out and relax. I bet there’ll be no sudden change of travel traffic lights from green to amber to affect them if going abroad, unlike the plebs who then have to rush back. No sirree, not for the MPs.
Of course, on their return in September, the rules will be resurrected because of the nth wave and another 3 week lockdown, just to flatten the curve.

You are right, I was probably getting a bit carried away in my previous post. We should insist on the lifting of all restrictions. And that should include on our government not complying with any other nation requiring certification of vaccine status.

How many businesses are going to get pressured into keeping mask mandates – either by the publicor their health and safety departments / insurers.
Masking will become (even more of) a moral issue and we’ll be lectured that we should all mask up to make others feel safe.
As long as just one business in a sector drops the requirement to wear a mask, I think that will be enough. For example, if just one supermarket does that, then that is where I will go to shop. The footfall hit to the other supermarkets will force the others to adopt the same policy.
The only problem could be if none of them give us a choice. Public transport for example, where choices are a bit limited, if they all insist then that would be a problem and we couldnt get around it by boycotting that business.
Why do those that wear masks have the right to make those who are scared of masks feel even worse ? No moral high ground for the tossers who love a mask in my view.

Just had a look. Absoloutely outraged aren’t they! There seems to be an obsession with ‘Long Covid’ (formerly known as post-viral fatigue before it had to be given a more scary-sounding name), despite this clearly being something which only affects a small minority of people.
It is of course taken as read in Guardian-land that all the restrictions are highly effective in reducing infections, when as we know most of them can be statistically showns to have little or no effect, and to cause other massive problems in society.
And having looked at the comments more, there also seems to be a strong belief among Guardian commenters that restrictions prevent variants from developing. The fact that viruses mutate whatever (although this one mutates a lot less than flu) seems to have passed them by…
From what ive seen long covid looks more like auto immune disease of some kind, maybe from taking vaccines. More research needed though.
My guess is that much of long covid is related to the atrophy your body experiences from staying in and doing nothing.

I ventured over there this morning. Big mistake, it sucked all the joy out of the day. What a miserablist lot they are.
Before getting too excited we need to find out:
A) what the catches are. What will the unvaccinated be subjected to?
B) whether Boris’s announcement survives the onslaught by the 24 hour rolling news cycle, the BBC, the public health Nazis, and social media pearl clutchers.
The response from the Labour “opposition” has been very revealing. Keir Starmer says “to throw off all protections at the same time when the infection rate is going up is reckless.” Totally ignoring the fact that a positive PCR test does not necessarily mean an infection, and that the vast majority of so-called ‘infections’ are not leading to hospitalitations or deaths in any case, and that we’re in the middle of the summer. Put in basic terms, for Labour, there is never a good time to reopen. Like their supporters in Independent Sage, Labour are ideologically opposed to freedom and supportive of restrictions. Hence they have merrily waved through every single extension of the emergency Covid laws, and indeed, have criticised the Government for not being more draconian! It’s frightening to think what the past 18 months might have looked like if Labour had been in power.
Bozo can’t win now, to denounce all that has come before as nonsense would be humiliating for him and to stay locked down will become more and more intolerable for an increasing number of people. All he can do is unlock and hope that we have reached HI.
A less charitable reading would be that he is just going to reimpose this winter I suppose and hammer in the final England coffin nail.
I cannot relax while there is no acceptance that this has all been a complete sham and the illegally used emergency powers remain.

The day they repeal the Coronavirus Act, the vaccine becomes illegal to administer under emergency licence. There will no longer be an emergency.

In peacetime it stands as unprecedented OTT wide ranging interventionist emergency powers legislation, which granted the over-arching framework to grant the government discretionary power to trample on previously protected civil liberties and intervene in a wide range of public bodies and services from the NHS to schools and the Armed Forces.
Constitutional abuse of the PHA1984 was an inevitable by-product of The Coronavirus Act 2020. Another example is the Care Act 2014 from which the CV Act created the Adult Social Care Action Plan; the resultant chaos (especially the discharge of elderly patients from hospitals into unprepared care homes) should have been enough in normal times to bring down any government.
This does not include the fact that the CV Act is the enabling framework within which previously illegal medical practice (the mass testing of experimental gene therapy) has been both enabled and promoted, often without fully informed consent (an absolute inalienable right).

Particularly parents testing their children! Grandson is quarantining for the third time this term as someone at his school has “ tested positive”. Granddaughter at a different school is quarantining for the first time. Neighbour’s child, at yet another school, is also quarantining.
Luckily, they all have grandparents who can provide care while their parents go to work but what happens when parents have no-one to look after their children?

My heart sank when Javid announced that yet another statement will be made next Monday. Will changes in the ‘data’ mean ‘freedom’ will be postponed yet again? Expect a week of Nagpaul, Michie, Reicher et al. being given time on BBC and Sky to frighten the politicians into changing their ‘minds’ again.

My fear, that as things open up, *cases* or positive dodgy test results, will rise. Look what happens when we ease restrictions they will screech. Come the autumn and another variant or two, we’ll be back where we started.

You raise an interesting point. “Robotic and stilted” is what I’m seeing with some strange behaviour around town, and in shops, and I’m not taking about the refreshment seekers on the town benches! People seem very detached and shut down. Shop staff don’t want make eye contact anymore. One woman just kept standing and staring into space at a check out, A man was in a retail car park erratically walking back and forth, another young man walked through town in his underpants…and no one but no one batted an eyelid at any of this!

I hate to be a downer on this but for me personally … nearly all is not good enough.
I want them to do away with all the Covid rules – so on that note I won’t be celebrating anything until they do.

I am not celebrating yet, he only said this is what he plans to do all being well, leaving a week for him to be bombarded with scare stories and alarmist hoo-haa and decide not to go ahead after all.
Also, whatever happens, it does seem that the ludicrous testing system will still carry on, even though they are reducing the isolation requirements, begging the question as to what is the point of all this dodgy testing?
They wont lock down until the ‘elites’ are back from their hols.
I really hope that many hospitality businesses will not insist on staff wearing masks, I would really like to be able to work again.
Although my mother in Germany just told me earlier she thought I will never be able to gain employment again as an uninjected person.

Many will be and they will believe the propaganda. Many think that we wont be in lockdown this winter and many believe our government officials never lie and always tell the truth…sadly
