CDC Says Americans Can Stop Wearing Face Masks Inside – but Only if They’re Fully Vaccinated

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that Americans can stop wearing face masks inside. The loosening of restrictions comes, as always, with a range of caveats – not least the fact that they only apply to those who are fully vaccinated against Covid. The New York Times has the story.

The advice from the CDC comes as welcome news to [fully vaccinated] Americans who have tired of restrictions and marks a watershed moment in the pandemic. Masks ignited controversy in communities across the United States, symbolising a bitter partisan divide over approaches to the pandemic and a badge of political affiliation...

The new advice comes with caveats. Even vaccinated individuals must cover their faces and physically distance when going to doctors, hospitals or long-term care facilities like nursing homes; when travelling by bus, plane, train or other modes of public transportation, or while in transportation hubs like airports and bus stations; and when in prisons, jails or homeless shelters.

In deference to local authorities, the CDC said vaccinated Americans must continue to abide by existing state, local, or tribal laws and regulations, and follow local rules for businesses and workplaces. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the one-dose Johnson & Johnson shot or the second dose of either Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series…

The CDC has been under fire recently for moving too gingerly to lift restrictions on public activities for those who are vaccinated. Some critics have said the Agency’s caution may suggest to Americans that officials lack confidence in the vaccines…

Only half of Americans said that they had a “great deal” of trust in the CDC, according to a new survey conducted in February and March by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Officials are worried that herd immunity may not be reached in the U.S., partly due to the decline of daily vaccination rates.

As of Wednesday, about 154 million people have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, but only about one-third of the nation, some 117.6 million people, have been fully vaccinated.

But the pace has slowed: Providers are administering about 2.16 million doses per day on average, about a 36% decrease from the peak of 3.38 million reported in mid-April.

As demand for the vaccine continues to wane, some states are requesting small fractions of their allotted doses from the Federal Government to save them from having to throw unused doses away. It is hoped that the change in mask-wearing guidelines for the vaccinated will push those who haven’t yet been vaccinated to get a move on.

The New York Times report is worth reading in full.

Stop Press: “The rule is now simple,” says Joe Biden: “Get vaccinated or wear a mask.”

It is going to be a long 4 years until “America’s Next President” takes office. This story and quote from Biden worried me the most of all the news today, because if it starts being policy in America it won’t take long to cross the pond and become policy here. The unjabbed will be forced to mask until the cows come home meanwhile the jabbed will be shedding left right and centre. Madness – total madness.

Not really going to convince me to get vaccinated … now, if somebody was to offer me free burger and fries …

“Listen Neddy, we will allow you take that ludicrous plastic plant pot off your head, but only if you agree to ‘volunteer’ as an unpaid Guinea Pig in some experimental medical trials that are already proving fatal. Entirely at your own risk, you understand?”
“Where do I sign?”
“Here., here.., and here. Thank you Neddy. (…under breath…..) There’s one born every minute..”

Hang on, so you go into a shop maskless and someone asks to see proof of vaccination and inspects the dates etc….every time you step into a shop someone at the door goes through that?
I mean, WTF?
Much much easier to say ‘I’m exempt’ then give them the middle finger with your eyes.

Sadly if this policy takes root over here then I would imagine that the current freedom of “exempt” will no longer apply. They will specifically legislate against it when they renew the damned covid Act

Oh for crying out loud, the world has gone totally, irretrievably bananas.

What next? You can get a vaccine passport without having the jab if you commit to wearing the face mask indoors for the rest of your life? You can take the mask off in bed but only if you’ve applied for and been granted this special dispensation for medical or religious reasons?

At this stage they’re just having a laugh at us. Surely everyone realises that?

It’s over folks. The lunatics have finally taken over the asylum. Nice try Homo Sapiens but FAIL.

The Central bankers for a start. They need you on the passport to issue your digital currency allowance (to be spent on what they tell you to spend it on)

As a resident of Massachusetts, where you could get fined if you were found not wearing a mask outside even if nobody else was around, this is a big deal. The CDC appears to be trying to get ahead of the loosening restrictions in the lockdown states rather than just playing catch up. Maybe the fact that the NYT took a shot at them yesterday is causing them to rethink their bureaucratic priorities.

You could just stop wearing a mask anyway. Who’d know otherwise?

So now the only way to achieve herd immunity is through a vaccine? What kind of pseudo science BS is this lol?

I think the ‘hesitent’ AKA ‘sane’ individuals won’t be swayed by the offer of face nappy free shopping! We’re way beyond the point where cheap tricks and gimmicks will change people’s minds.

There’s only one place i’d like them to stick the jab with my name on it 😉

So it is not possible to reach herd immunity without “vaccination” now? One wonders how we managed before 2021. And surely trying to coerce people to accept these experimental drugs is a crime against humanity.

Aside from the travel companies that are already asking for vaccine proof, there’s just no way that this will be enforced in the US. This is good news – it means the masks will go away.

The President of America endorses “get vaccinated or wear a mask. The choice is yours. ”
That man should be first to be tried for crimes against humanity along with the person who wrote it.

ShropshireLass

Actually I’d nominate in this order: Gates, Schwab, and Fauci, then Tedros of the WHO. The rest – including Biden – can be tried en-masse.

you should send that list in that order to Fuellmich Shropshire Lass. Might want to lengthen it a little to include some appropriate UK representation.

“The rule is now simple: get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do. The choice is yours”.

That is pretty chilling stuff coming from the President of the USA. How indeed does he expect to enforce that “rule”?

I think WH has leaned heavily on CDC to backtrack. The latest statement from CDC Director(the real bad one)was that vaccinated has nothing to fear C-19,hence no mask, and only unvaccinated has the risk. This is indrectly a statement against any vaccine passport as vaccinated have nothing to fear.

I think this is the first important step in masks disappearing in the US.Whatever the President says ,there is no way to check in the US if you had the vaccine so everybody will be maskless first outdoors and then sooon indoors. Impossible to have federal mandate with only allowing face masks on unvaccinated.
This must be a big step forward in scrapping masks in the US soon followed in Europe.(even maskfanatic Spain speaks of last term masks in schools)

Don’t they see that by phrasing it in this way *get a medical treatment you don’t want or need or you’ll be forced to wear a dehumanising face rag forever* they’ve admitted that both of these things (vax and masks) are undesirable? People are just expected to choose between two evils? If getting the vax was really a no-brainer or wearing masks really wasn’t harmful then how would this threat be possible?

Mr President seems unaware that there is a third choice in addition to wearing a mask or being vaccinated, namely, that freeborn Americans stop listening to the utter sh*t seeping round the corners of his mask, and do neither.
