U.K. Child Abuse Helpline Contacted Almost 85,000 Times during Lockdowns

A U.K. children’s charity says that messages and calls to its helpline have risen to record levels over the past year of lockdowns. The most frequently raised concerns were about neglect, parental mental health and physical and mental abuse. BBC News has the story.

Children’s charity the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) says calls and messages to its helpline have risen to record levels during the pandemic.

In the year to March 2021 the helpline was contacted almost 85,000 times, up 23% on the previous year.

The figures amplify fears that children who could not go to school during the lockdowns were more vulnerable to abuse and neglect, says the NSPCC.

Chief Executive Sir Peter Wanless says Government recovery plans must address the harm children may have faced.

“We’ve been hearing first-hand about the immense pressures families have faced during the pandemic and the heavy toll that has taken on children and young people.

“For some children this has included experiencing abuse, bereavement and other harm,” said Sir Peter…

Of the 85,000 contacts to the helpline, the NSPCC says almost half, 47%, led to a referral – for example to police or children’s services.

The most frequently raised concern was about adult or parental behaviour, including:

~ alcohol or other substance misuse

~ domestic abuse

~ parental mental health

Other issues raised included neglect, physical abuse and emotional abuse.

NSPCC’s Chief Executive said children should be placed at the centre of the Government’s plans for the recovery from lockdown. The findings from this charity echo previous reports on the “pandemic of mental health problems” among children as a result of lockdowns, caused not only by domestic abuse but by the banning of social contact and, for example, the closing of children’s playgrounds.

Shame on the lockdown addicts. There must be accountability for all the ills they have brought to bear over the last 14 months. Otherwise our existence as a banana republic will be confirmed.

They have plans to vaccinate all children later this year. With an experimental drug – which is surprising us every day with new side-effects. They are insane

I don’t remember the NSPCC condemning all these atrocious abuses while they were happening.

That applies to a lot of charities and bodies. Someone in another post here mentions Age Concern a propos elderly people, but supposedly “caring” outfits like the churches have done nothing to help or object to the inhumanity we now dish out. Of course, the top of the list of killers is the NHS.

What they want is Boris Johnson to take the blame because he didn’t lock down early enough. Smear with the herd immunity tag and be done with it.

If only we’d have done that, these children wouldn’t have had to endure such hardship is what they’ll claim with no evidence.

It basically gives them an out because they are hard of thinking and the idea that Covid has been found in March 2019 Spanish sewage, well, it’s just too difficult to process for them.

And the proposition that the lockdowns did save one COVID life is debatable if not dubious. Where is the evidence this (lockdowns saved lives) was the case? You can certainly cite evidence that countries and states that didn’t have these extreme lockdowns … had fewer deaths than jurisdictions that did.

The “known knowable” is the spike in domestic violence, child abuse, suicides, attempted suicides, drug overdoses. The data on undiagnosed medical conditions that ultimately kill people will be coming in for months and years.

And the solution to child abuse is? Back to school with enforced masks, constant testing, social distancing and eventual subjection to clinical trials of an experimental jab that is totally unnecessary. So that’s the child abuse sorted then.

Where does the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children stand on school masking and coerced vaccination with experimental gene therapy?

It doesn’t stand.Like all other charities, it grovels.
Look at the splendid job Age Concern has made of protecting the old against cold-blooded cruelty, isolation and mental torture

The Government have no idea how people live in the inner cities of this country! They just thought tell everyone to work from home and that will sort it. Shame on the lockdown fanatics and the Labour so called opposition.

Anyone commenting here has known this would be the outcome of lockdown isolation from the beginning.

Thank you so much Julian. I really think they need to get this, from today’s Guardian, up on the main board.

Kids from 5 upwards, across Europe, to be injected before September. Then they’re going to start on the babies…

They’ll be delighted by that news. Sorry to break it to you.

“He said that everyone who had been fully vaccinated would need a third booster shot, about nine to 12 months after the first. After that, a single annual top-up would be required.”

Vaccines forever by mandate.

“Vaccines forever by mandate.”

single annual top-up for 7 billion people by law. I expect this is the endgame. A massive transfer of wealth to the pharma companies and their advisors (ex-politicians). They won’t stop at covid either – next will be flu – then anything else they can scare morons with

The spike in child abuse and domestic abuse was another outcome that should have qualified as a “known knowable” with these lockdowns. That is, plenty of knowledgeable experts told us that this WOULD be one consequence of lockdowns – Just like spikes in drug overdoses, suicides, etc.

This is really “blood” that should be on the hands of those who mandated these lockdowns.

I hope we get more journalism like this, especially in the U.S.
