Snow, Sleet and Freezing Temperatures Hit UK as Pub Beer Gardens Reopen

As if Government restrictions around the reopening of pubs and restaurants weren’t onerous enough, customers in many parts of the UK will have to endure snow, sleet and single-digit temperatures if they want to enjoy their “freedoms” outdoors. The Met has forecast sunshine in some areas, but “wet and wintry” weather elsewhere.

The Guardian has the story.

The lifting of lockdown restrictions to allow people in England to use pub beer gardens and dine in the outdoor areas of restaurants is being met by snowfall, as a spring cold snap hits.

The inclement weather will come as a blow to thousands of businesses that were hoping to welcome back customers on Monday after months of restrictions.

Met Office forecasters said southern England and much of Wales could expect outbreaks of rain, sleet and some snow, although this was predicted to clear through the morning, leaving sunny intervals and scattered showers.

Elsewhere in the UK, people were told to expect sunny periods and isolated wintry showers. The Met Office said temperatures were not expected to rise beyond single figures celsius. …

A number of pubs with 24-hour licences opened as soon as they were allowed. The Kentish Belle in south-east London opened at one minute past midnight on Monday until 3am. In Newcastle, the Switch bar and the Bank did the same, despite temperatures dropping below freezing.

Boris Johnson said people should enjoy the new freedoms but remain wary of the risks. In a message hailing the latest stage of lockdown lifting, the Prime Minister said: “Today is a major step forward in our roadmap to freedom as venues such as shops, hairdressers, nail salons, outdoor attractions, and pubs and restaurants open once again.”

The Prime Minister has stressed the importance of “fresh air” as a preventative measure against Covid. We’ve certainly got plenty of that. But with nearly 40 million people vaccinated and a steep decline in Covid cases – the fastest decline in the world – why can’t our reopening go at least one step further and allow hospitality venues to open indoors?

The Guardian’s report is worth reading in full.

Stop Press: A photo of two customers at a bistro in Surrey eating outdoors this morning illustrates the “new reality” of outdoor dining.

Because the masses would enjoy themselves and the powers that be will lose control of them, and vax rates will plummet (hopefully). Expect a massive psyop programme before they open the pubs fully, the scared need to remain scared.

Great, so you won’t catch Covid by sitting outside a pub, but you will freeze to death instead! Thank you Government and Sage for caring about our health & safety!

Can’t see many takers for the garden chairs thoughtfully placed outside many hair salons and barber shops as they operate ‘one in one out’ access.

Not in this weather, and in full view of passers-by.

“Boris Johnson said people should enjoy the new freedoms”

LOL! There are no ‘new’ freedoms because they were never taken away in the first place.

They just tricked the majority into thinking they were taken away.

They were taken away, with the police ready and willing to reinforce the new tyranny.

Cold is known to reduce ones ability to resist disease. Clever move by the government.

“The Prime Minister has stressed the importance of “fresh air” as a preventative measure against Covid”

So why did he scare all the moron’s into hiding in their homes the past 12 months?

Just more gas lighting which goes unquestioned by the servile media.

No idea what any official rules are at this point. Off to the local post office unmasked shortly lol.

So I can pay £4 a pint to sit in the cold , tracked and traced, asked to be muzzled when I go to drain my spuds and if I order any hot food , it will be cold in seconds
OR
I can invite my mates round to the garden with some 5l kegs. If it gets too cold of course I’ll tell them to leave and not invite them in despite their desperate pleading.

Hmm tough chocie

If it gets too cold and you won’t invite them in, they’ll p*** all over your garden….

I’ve dug a trench near a tree that has a tarpaulin draped over a low branch. Don;t want them shedding the virus on a trip to the loo when it’s too cold to open the windows as instructed by HMG .

£4 a pint? Lucky you! We used to have three pubs in our village and one has since closed down for good due to lockdowns. The owner of the pub we would normally visit has just put his prices up from £4.80 to £5.50 I am told. Cant blame him but its bloody ridiculous. Think I will stick to drinks in the garden too

I really despise Boris.

Here he is in Cornwall, inside, with people he doesn’t live with, not wearing a mask

Fair play -he’s sat down in what appears to be a hospitality venue . The virus plays by the rules and won’t get him or any of the others until they stand up unless of course they play their joker by putting on the mask . Nice to see the mask on the front rhs that won’t put any germs on the table top.

Have you seen these videos from France? https://youtu.be/GN5B27zT29Y
Each one I see has more people than the previous one.

I don’t know what song would be appropriate for the UK (or England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland), but this is what a freedom movement could look like.

Truly rousing, sent shivers down my spine yet I didn’t understand a word but I can still make sense of the sentiment.
Of course it would never be allowed here as the Boris Stasi would Barton-charge the lot of us!

Love them all; surely Covent Garden would be the perfect location for all UK luvvies, out of work musicians, artistes of all types and street entertainers to get together for something similar.

Thanks for posting Constant Bees – I have seen several of these but this was by far the most joyous to date as I loved the dance move they all did in unison – I’d far prefer to do that in my living room over Joe Wicks any day. I’m going to save this and pass on to as many as I can.

Good bit of graffiti on a large poster of the chinese girl by Trechnikov in Stellenbosch, South Africa. It’s a university town and it’s good to see some students with balls.

I don’t know the story of that photo or wish to judge the individuals captured in it but taking it at face value that is one of the saddest, most depressing images but neatly captures the servitude and complete denial of reality that joe public has demonstrated throughout this shit show.

Beyond that I’m lost for words.

Why are we apparently ‘celebrating’ this insanity ffs? This is WRONG and needs to be called out for what it is, not treated as a bit of a naughty joke. Where are the ‘counter’ statistics, talking about the risk of sickness and death to, especially the infirm and elderly, being forced to expose themselves to these conditions if they want to enjoy a bit of ‘freedom’.
It’s cruel insane torture and needs to be described as such. No one should have to tolerate this. It simply wouldn’t have been accepted by my parents and grandparents. What the hell has happened to us. What the hell is going to be left for my Grandchildren currently ages ranging from 3 to 6? Just don’t accept it! It’s not funny, it’s positively nasty and comes with its own dangers.

On a lighter and totally unrelated note. My son sent me this today that he spotted whilst taking the grand kids out for a bit of outdoorsy stuff yesterday.
