MPs to Get Vote on Vaccine Passports
The Government risks being defeated in the Commons over Covid vaccine passports, which MPs will be given a vote on before being introduced. So far, 73 MPs have signed a pledge to oppose domestic vaccine passports. The Telegraph has the story.
MPs will be given a vote on plans for vaccine passports before they are introduced, risking a Government defeat in the Commons, the Telegraph has learnt.
Michael Gove, who is leading an official review of the scheme, has privately promised MPs who are critical of vaccine checks that they will be given a chance to vote them down.
More than 70 MPs, including 41 Conservatives, have signed an open letter to the Prime Minister opposing the use of vaccine passports. If more than around 60 Tory MPs rebel and all opposition parties refuse to support the passports, Mr Johnson could be defeated in the Commons, and the scheme abandoned.
Mr Gove held a phone call with a group of MPs about the measures last week, after dozens went public with their concerns.
One MP told this newspaper: “Michael made a very clear statement on the call with MPs that there would be debates and votes before anything like this came into force.”
The Government is currently conducting a review into a passport scheme and has not yet finalised any plans.

For the Government to be defeated in a Commons vote on Covid certification, Tory rebels would have to team up with Labour and Liberal Democrat MPs.
A source on Sunday night indicated that the shadow cabinet has not yet decided whether Labour MPs would be whipped to vote against the motion, but Sir Keir Starmer has previously said he would regard a passport scheme as “un-British”.
Clive Lewis, a Labour backbencher who opposes the passport plans, said many Labour MPs would join the rebels when the vote takes place.
“I imagine there is a calculation [in Labour HQ] that this is something for which there isn’t support across the party,” he said.
“It would also be an opportunity, if there is a large number of Tory rebels, to inflict a possible defeat on the Government which, especially with an 80 seat majority, is a rare opportunity.”
A vote in the Commons could see an unlikely alliance between libertarian Tory MPs and the Socialist Campaign Group, a caucus of MPs on the Left of the Labour Party. Both have been critical of any vaccine checks in the UK, other than for international travel.

Sir Graham Brady, one of the leading anti-vaccine passport Tory MPs, has said that “we should be vigilant in defence of liberty, where the state has reached too far into our lives, we should kick it out”.
The idea of vaccination passports will seem to some like a short cut to freedom but on closer examination it makes no sense at all. According to the baby steps in the Government “roadmap” indoor hospitality resumes on May 17th but not all adults will have been offered vaccinations until July. Second doses will take much longer. To introduce ‘Covid Status Certificates’ when not every adult has been offered would be impractical, so pubs, restaurants and cinemas will have been operating safely for weeks – perhaps months – before the scheme could be put in place.
Meanwhile the high take up of vaccines among vulnerable groups has all but removed the risk of serious illness from Covid. The evidence is that the current vaccines are also effective against the variants that have been identified overseas. Against this backdrop, we should ask ourselves exactly which problem this scheme is intended to solve. If your answer is that we should introduce an intrusive, costly and unnecessary certification scheme just in case a future variant comes along that is impervious to our vaccine, then surely there would be no point whatsoever in having a phone app to tell the world that we’ve had the out of date vaccination?

Another sales drive for those who are profting from this fraudulent and criminal agenda. The covid industry is their new criminal vehicle for stealing vast sums of money from public funds. It seems a couple of prospective defendants are missing – surely Vallance/ Whitty/ Ferguson could only be guilty of anything if their advice/modelling was acted upon. I could offer all the advice and modelling in the world but if nobody acts upon it I have committed no offence. Ought not the key personnel who acted upon the advice and modelling by laying the Coronavirus Act before parliament and issuing all the regulations under it also be included as defendants?

What I really don’t get at all about these tests at home things is, why on earth would you take them seriously? If / when I ever get one, I fully intend to try them out on a variety of substances, but certainly not me!
I am tempted to do so, but I understand that due to inaccuracy of the ‘tests’ they often return a positive even if they are not used or tried on inanimate objects. The downside would be that the Tracker police will then be on your case telling you to Stay Home, Protect the NHS or whatever the self isolation mantra is. I for one have no intention of ‘testing’ to suit the likes of Matty Handjob. He has, I see posted another Twitter? post extolling the virtues of his neferarious scheme. I will be posting any test sent to my home returned to sender c/o Matty at his office in London so he can test and test himself again to his heart’s content.

Another excellent idea. If all the tests go to one person at the same destination the resulting post spam will be enourmous whether we send together or seperately. The end result when they arrive at the destination will be chaotic. I presume that Matty Handjob will be able to find a use for them, he has more than one orifice the test can be inserted into! I have also considered this is another chance at a data scrap. no doubt we will be encouraged to register, sign up or down load an app, supply email, phone number etc to let the Covid Police have the test results. Having wasted copious amounts of taxpayers’ hard earned money on the “Gold standard’ track and trace app, which people have not used, they will be vindicated by saying ” Look look it does work after all” and Dildo Harding & Matty can give themselves more gold stars for failing at their jobs.

On the subject of home testing, presumably people will have to get an official PCR test to prove their status under any passport scheme, so what is the point of taking a home test? Use your common sense and stay at home if you feel unwell, or are we no longer thought capable of recognising when we’re ill? The only point of mass testing is if the government are so scientifically illiterate that they still believe in mass asymptomatic transmission of a virus that barely exists in the community anymore. My advice to LilyVLibre, when redirecting the tests, is to include a request that the recipient sticks it where the sun doesn’t shine.

Anyone who opposes any potential application of these must oppose all of it. As we’ve seen repeatedly this year, the first step is about introducing a framework, not the specific content. Once that legal framework is in place, it’s easily varied and the ratchet easily tightened.
If this is all about preventing harm to others, precisely the same app / protocols can be applied beyond Covid.

People have it in their head that once they’ve had 2 shots of one of these vaccines that it’s the end of the matter. It’s not. The EMA (European Medicines Agency) has already published a paper saying that newly developed “top up” vaccines that are similar to the existing approved ones will not need to be tested. (Link below)

I read that just the same. At least the Lib Dems are opposed on a philosophical level and state their case. Labour are utterly pathetic.
