Boris Johnson has stressed the importance of keeping the vaccine rollout at its current pace due to the risk that the ‘third wave’ of Covid infections across Europe will hit the UK as well. Sky News has the story.
Boris Johnson has been “reassured” EU leaders “don’t want to see blockades” on the export of Covid vaccines – as he warned a third wave of infections in Europe would likely hit the UK as well.
Amid a dispute over a possible block on exports of coronavirus jabs to the UK, the Prime Minister said he had been “reassured by talking to EU partners over the last few months that they don’t want to see blockades”.
He stressed the UK was “on course” to vaccinate the top nine priority groups – including all over-50s – by April 15th, while the Government would “bash on” with its roadmap for lifting lockdown restrictions.
Mr Johnson said he had talked to EU leaders “repeatedly over the period”, adding: “We’re all facing the same pandemic, we all have the same problems.
“I think one thing worth stressing is that on the continent right now, you can see sadly there is a third wave under way.
“And people in this country should be under no illusions that previous experience has taught us that when a wave hits our friends, I’m afraid it washes up on our shores as well.”
That last sentence is poorly constructed. If a person is “under no illusions” that “previous experience has taught” them a particular lesson, that implies “previous experience” hasn’t taught them that lesson, when Boris clearly means the opposite. Tsk, tsk.
The Prime Minister’s garbled statement follows recent warnings that an increase in Covid cases on the Continent could prevent Brits from holidaying abroad this summer.

It’s just yet another ephemeral fear porn effort which by the time it fails to come to pass will have been superceded by some other two week flash in the pan panic along the lines of
‘Elon Musk threatened Bill’n’Malinda with new Martian Mutant’.
How many times have we already supposed to have had a ‘third wave’ ?
What is the highest number of waves that we have been predicted with yet ?
The ‘Third Wave’ will arrive Autumn 2021 as the usual seasonal return.
Boris Johnson has been under the false illusion that covid-19 is so bad that we had to throw away our well thought out pandemic response plan and do something insane. He was wrong then and he is wrong now

It must be right – coming from the Mount Parnassus of truth and foresight that is the brain of Mr Toad – who always tells the unvarnished truth couched in selfless terms of wisdom.

I expect it will disappear from europe over the summer as its a heavily seasonal virus (the modellers haven’t worked that out yet)
if lockdowns do work (which I don’t believe they do) their own modelling will show we are just creating a new wave to coincide with next winter.
And? Everybody in the UK for whom it’s remotely threating has already received one or both of their doses of mRNA and/or GM monkey virus.
So if the vaccines work as promised, then what’s the problem?
And if the vaccines don’t work, then what’s the solution?
I’m pretty sure that it’s not indefinite house arrest for all citizens. Or at least, that’s not a solution for a seasonal bug that affects only the aged and infirm and caused no more age-and-population-adjusted deaths than we had in 2008 and every previous year. And that’s if you assume that every single excess death in 2020 was due to the China Virus, rather than to the house arrests and shutting down the economy and the NHS
So, Leader Johnson, what problem are you trying to solve, exactly?
Is it human mortality, or is it the problem of humanity?
More “softening up” for more of the same. As well as being useless in every other regard, Johnson and his sidekicks are hopeless liars. The forked tongue flickers, and he might as well have “Liar” tattooed across his empty forehead. He didn’t merit a Covid “jab”; what he needs is a large shot of truth serum combined with some bromide.
It’s no surprise, either, that the battalions of “mask and SD for years” jeremiahs are being wheeled out, bang on cue, by a complicit media and for the benefit of the Great British Credulous Halfwit audience.
I thought we just got through the 3rd wave. There was the first that peaked April 2020, then there was Sept/Oct and a sharp upturn Christmas to after New Year. The brilliant informscotland.uk says testing needs to stop because it is such a waste of resource when there is so little Sars Cov 2 in the population.

We’re back to where we were in 2008, and that was with no vaccine, cack-handed overly invasive treatment (this isn’t aimed at medics who did the best they could with the information to hand, but it is a statement of fact), and without distinguishing between kills by the Chinese Virus versus kills by the lunatic measures that we took to Save Our NHS which destroyed Our Economy, Our Liberal Society, Our Parliamentary Democracy… and Our NHS.
Every death is a tragedy, but everybody dies. It just wasn’t that bad a year.

True. But that didn’t stop Them from describing it as a wave. After all, if you job/political survival depends on it being a deadly virus with no seasonality, any upward shift is a wave.
Was Christmas to January actually a 3rd wave, or just the 2nd wave resurging after being pushed back somewhat by the November lockdown?
Seriously how do they still get away with rubbish like this? it is outright lies. Surely elderly Piers Corbyn would have been on his death bed last spring if this was a real deadly pandemic?
They are obviously trying to bring about order via chaos, just look at the staged violence in Bristol. Can’t bring in a police state without millions of disillusioned desperate and confused citizens. How about a deliberate food shortage to add to the hundreds in queues for food banks?
The current wave in Europe could be any number of infections, assuming that people are symptomatic and not positive test results. If the virus is endemic, which it probably is, there will be an increase in infections in the autumn.
Third wave? Does he mean those people who turn in dinghies off the Kent coast?

Perhaps he is referring to Eastern Europe, which didn’t have any waves last year and appears to have had its first early this year. But even there, excess mortality is trending down now.
The PM and Gove know there is a complete F.U. on exports and shortly imports to and from Europe. They know that can be disguised for months more with another dose of ‘covid fear’. So far they have riden wave of acceptability with the vaccine PR, they fear the ‘brexit’ rebound.
Interesting suggestion, especially given that I was starting to regard myself as an ex-Remoaner (due to the EU’s vaccination fiasco).
We will never get out of this until Boris and co are forcibly removed.

(good job on keeping up on the reporting , but one thing about the comments, when you started this site almost everyone on here had the same views as you.
The majority of the commenters became “deplorable” not because of influence by “conspiracy nuts” like me but because the facts don’t fit story.

Just wondering how people (the over 50s in the UK for the most part) handle the frequent intrusive questioning about whether you’ve had your jab yet (assuming many on here will decline the vaccine)? I usually reply, “no yet” or “my husband has had it” without giving any definite details but I’m wondering whether it is my civic duty to bravely put the alternative viewpoint risking social death and if so, what I should focus on.
I’ve informed my GP who had thoughtfully booked me in for a jab (even though a regular appointment is usually a three week wait). I told him I would reconsider when the trials have completed and I didn’t think that would be until January 2023.
I’ve just told someone today when asked, that I tell no one any medical details about myself, never have never will, its crazy and pathetic all of the self congratulation for a Vaccination!
Was it ever acceptable to ask someone if they had had an AIDS test and, if so, what was the result ?

I’ve never known it ever to be acceptable to ask anyone anything like this, just like the flu jab, who even asks someone if they have had the flu jab before they sit near them. Its all extremism
I find honesty to be the best policy. If asked, I simply say that I’ve declined the invitation to have the vaccine without giving an explanation. This usually leaves the questioner dumbstruck and conspicuously more uncomfortable than me. It’s very empowering.
There’s an excellent piece on Armstrong Economics – a rabbi lists 31 reasons why he won’t be taking the jab. I agreed with all of them, and have made a mental note of some so I can trot them out to the next Nosey Nelly who asks. I think your response to your doc is by far the best, and really can’t be argued with. It implies you’re not an anti-vaxxer ( not that there’d be anything wrong with it if you were) but that you’ve informed yourself and done a bit of research.

AFAIK Europe’s “third wave” is caused by the B117 variant: the same variant that already ripped through the UK in January, so it’s not likely to come back with a vengeance now, especially given how many people have been vaccinated now…
At what point are they (gov, public health, MSM etc) going to stop the countometer of (alleged) covid deaths, read out every day with a solemn voice, like the number means anything to anyone? One year on, should we not be resetting it now?? Or should they also be publishing the total number of (alleged) flu deaths EVER alongside, just for some proportion?
